Stay away from DRAMless type SSD. This is true especially TLC type SSD. When you don't have a buffer DRAM , during high workloads, the SSD will stall . When it happens, the end-user will face the typical "hang" like what harddisk users are facing when windows update+anti virus scan are running concurrently and you are trying to load a game.
DRAMless do promise a little better battery life. But I don't think its worth the tradeoff , for a lot worse user experience.

guys, sorry for reviving this old topic.

I understand that Dramless TLC SSD will cause sluttering issue. I just found two 240GB Intel 530 MLC SSD lying in my cabinet which Ii haven't used for years since i upgraded to 480GB SSD. I google it and found that the intel 530 has no Dram so it is a lousy SSD? Will it improve performance (remove sluttering) if I configure RAID0 for two SSD?

Intel 530 has small DRAM cache. It is using Sandforce controller. MLC also more reliable than TLC. Most cheaper SSDs are using TLC.

MLC is much faster & reliable than TLC. Heck, they don't even need the simulated SLC cache on TLC SSDs. smile.gif I don't see the problem with it, even without DRAM. smile.gif

Pretty hard to find MLC SSDs now. Every manufacturer went for cost-cutting crappy TLC. puke.gif

Samsung 860 Pro and 970 Pro are the only ones left. Price is very steep.

Samsung 860 Pro:
256GB - 549
512GB - 799 (better price/GB)

Samsung 970 Pro:
512GB - 1099 (better price/GB)
1TB - 2299

You might be able to find Intel 535 360GB at RM340ish though.
