Going for a timing belt change for my 6 year old Persona Elegance.

Besides timing belt, what other belt I have to change?

Just need to be aware so that my foreman won't simply ask me to change what is not necessary.

Heard some say its better to also change the aircon belt together.

Not sure sure whether to use ori proton belt or gates.

Mileage is around 85,000km

Yup I can change aircon and fan belt.

But is water pump really necessary?

Is it ok to change water pump the next time? (when not changing timing belt)

Is changing water pump a simple procedure or is it as complicating as changing the timing belt.

Get the timing set which include idler and tensioner. Your original idler should started to develop rust already. Forget about getting Proton original. Get the gates or saito.

Water pump is not necessary unless leaking or weeble. However, it cost less than rm100 so you might want to consider new one as rust should started to develop too. And yes, replacing water pump is labor intensive which cost as much as timing belt replacement. So might as well replace water pump without any extra charge.

One thing people tend to forget is the seal/gasket for timing cover. Get rubber type which cost around RM20. No cutting will be required, unlike Proton original which you need to buy 2 pcs and cut them to fit.

If manual, since engine is out, might as well change clutch plate

Yeah maybe I should get the water pump changed since u mention labour intensive.

And the seal or gasket for timing cover, will ask my foreman for this item. By right he should have those items.

Change the water pump as well. Last time i did a timing belt change for my Wira, penny wise pound foolish skipped the water pump change.

then few months later my water pump leaked.Daggum, i have to spend money again for same workmanship cost for changing a timing belt to change the water pump, cause the pump is connected to the timing belt.

You can skip the fan belt if they are still in good condition
