With stock Android, you won't feel your phone getting old but younger in terms of software. The only thing that makes you feel your phone is old will be the hardware department but hey smartphone makers need to survive too!  smile.gif

+1 yeah initially I wanted to go for redmi note 4 buy had bad experience with software update on their 1st gen note so gonna get this at least it's up to date. And most important it has ac wifi! XD already ordered mine should be here on next week I guess.

Dammit just when I pulled the trigger and order this phone now I see quite a number of people having problem with their set in the last few pages. Is it a temporary oreo problem or permanent? ??

You are not alone brother. Just placed an order today hope it'll be here neXt week or so.

attw yeah currently using zuk edge another lesser known phone with 821 chipset. Getting this as a spare while waiting for the camera spare parts to arrive. Plus monthly update seems like a good thing to me. Took lenovo forever to push with an update.

Oh wow, Zuk Edge! Nice! Yeah, that's kinda rare. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with this little fella. Last year alone, I tried the S8, S8+, Note 8 and U11. As far as battery life goes, none of them came close to what I'm getting from the Mi A1 smile.gif
*
Wow nice! Even comparing to those flagship this is better biggrin.gif Can't wait for it to arrive >< Any recommended slim casings for it? Ordered the black one with a tempered glass, left a slim case for it now to order. Ohh and whats the average SOT? I mainly uses it for whatsapp, email and social media only tho.

Ok, before you get your expectations up, I think I better clarify my statement, hehe. In terms of battery life, outstanding, but everything else in terms of camera, display, functionality is just mediocre, given that this is a midrange phone after all. My usage is roughly about the same as yours and in that respect, the performance is great though. No lags, everything is pretty nifty and smooth. I regularly achieved 3-4hours SOT with about 50-60% battery life remaining when the phone was still on Nougat, but after the latest Oreo upgrade, I did 4 hours SOT, 21 hours standby with 41% battery remaining on my first charge cycle after the update. Can refer here for my Oreo one and my Nougat one here smile.gif

Accessories are a bit hard to come by at retail shops though, so no choice but to go online smile.gif I'm currently using this case

https://www.lelong.com.my/xiaomi-mi-5x-a1-m...7-01-Sale-I.htm

The seller has a physical store but it's in Klang though, not sure where your location is. He's pretty friendly. I went there to get my tempered glass from him as well, but I can't recommend the tempered glass, it has the horrible halo effect. Does the job for 15 bucks though, can't complain smile.gif

No problem I do understand what I'm getting. I think on average daily my sot is about 1-2 hours at work and still got 60%. Left on my zuk when I got back. I'm that minimal haha. So I guess it'll be most likely more than enough for my usage xD thanks for your input man. Really appreciate it. Hope to get similar battery life like yours too ^^

Received! Around 3pm today. Place order yesterday 2pm+ via Lazada@ G Store. Only takes 25 hour.

Straight open and start setting up my phone. Happy with the performance, display, camera compare to my Redmi 3S.

Wow that was fast. Hope mine can reach early instead of wait till next week sad.gif

Omg omg just arrived and I just got it. So damn happy with the build quality of the phone despite coming from an *slim bezel* zuk edge with 821. Satisfied for the price I paid. ^^ now need to go find a casing first xD

Could anyone explain the bad battery life im facing? I'm using 4g data all the time but the total SOT is only about 4hours. Only used my phone mostly for chrome browsing (only 1hr+ SOT as you can see) and telegram(mostly incoming messages notification and occasionally reading the messages). I'm on Android 8.0, not rooted, using Nova Launcher Prime(if that even matters) and using 30% brightness or more when I'm outdoor.

Try check under wifi there is an option allow Google to scan wifi even when turned off. Disable that. Might give it a shot smile.gif

I've skipped the Oreo update when I can download it cuz of the list of bugs. Then few days ago I've tried to search for update and they didn't prompt me to update. It just says that my phone is currently on the latest version of android. Probably they retracted the update to solve the bugs? Possible?
*
yeah i think so too. Anyhow I think I'll leave it as it is first. smile.gif Btw u guys have any issue with capacitive button, some times doesn't work? Or Gboard will stay on screen but not responsive, but everything behind it works? lol... Weird stuff on the first day. And Umobile 4G is so bad that I need to turn to 3G just to be stable. ==" On the other hand on my previous phone 4G would work just fine with 2 or 3 bars.

maybe UMobile 4G bandwidth is incompatible with the phone? Did you check which band is Umobile using?
as for the Gboard, mine is absolutely fine though.
lemon unit?
*
Yeah it is supported. 2600 band 7. That's the first thing I checked before buying any phones. Guess the modem chipset in it is just not on par with x12 on the 8xx series. Just surprised how bad umobile is in this area.
