With stock Android, you won't feel your phone getting old but younger in terms of software. The only thing that makes you feel your phone is old will be the hardware department but hey smartphone makers need to survive too!

after upgrade to 8.0...small problem here and there......finally factory reset and everything working smoothly.......
some improvement on 8.0 compare to 7.1.2 on my phone

I am. I'm still deciding to take up the current excellent deal of Mi A1 or wait for A2. Would A2 has better camera than Redmi Note 5?

I actually want to get Redmi Note 5 but it isn't USB Type-C and I do not think i could go back using USB 2.0.

So am I. Thought to wait for good deal at 11 November.
But, my phone volume up button is stuck, randomly increase the volume to Max.

Checking on the comparison of redmi note 5 and mi 6x(mi a2), I feels that the camera quality difference is quite minimal.
Suggest you go to have a look at YouTube.

I'll go for the one with stock Android and slightly better looking mi a2.

Like, it used to be brighter even when at 50% brightness, but now i have to ramp it up to 60-65% to achieve the same brightness

Just to say that Android Pie has messed up the GPS locking. It took forever for waze to work correctly. If you need waze oftenly, please stay away this update until they have fix it with another new update.

If anyone knows how to downgrade to oreo OS, pls share. TQ

i believe somehow the pie os did make the waze unstable by not connecting to gps...no choice everytime need to restart phone in order for waze to lock the gps faster. Lets hope the next rom update will fix this issue. i believe google map is not having this issue...just waze, sigh...

I use this for other phone. Last for 1.5 years before it peels off by itself on the edge... So, get 2 units just in case installation goes wrong... It's not easy to install for average Joe...

Its a common thing. Either u edit the config file, change telco or change phone
