Updated successfully to Oreo. All good so far, not missing any WhatsApp notifications as reported by some earlier. However I did set it to Not Optimized in the battery option, just in case smile.gif

Yes... but only certain apps work. I tried VLC, it works. YouTube require YouTube Red subscription, so can't test it.
*
Ah, Ok. I don’t have VLC, and been trying to test YouTube and Google Maps.. Anyways, won’t really use it I guess but just wanted to test it. Thanks bro!

So for those who upgraded to Oreo, is the fast charging feature enabled? Do you notice any difference in the charging duration?

I did notice that the charging notification now shows as "charging rapidly".
*
QUOTE(Khazs @ Jan 4 2018, 07:45 AM)
Mention previously, just a minimal reduce in charging time even it shows 'Charging Rapidly' using its own charger & cable.
But I like to know, if use reputable brand QC charger (or OEM), is that Mi A1 charging time reduce greatly?
*
I can confirm the charging times are about the same with the stock charger, despite the "Charging Rapidly" term, ha ha... Yet to try it with a QC charger.

As for YouTube, can use Chrome as workaround. Open YouTube in Chrome and play at full screen then hit home button. Tested, it works.
*
Oh wow! Thanks for this. Just got it to work as well! Cheers!

I don't, could hardly see it, ha ha. But then maybe you are still young and your eyes still sharp. Old man like me prefer the new battery status indicator, haha..

any different bluetooth 4.2 and 5.0...  hmm.gif

Haven't tried, but I doubt there's a significant difference.

QUOTE(alif1994 @ Jan 4 2018, 07:29 PM)
I'm pretty sure that feature was only introduced with Android 8.1. The Mi A1 only at Android 8.0 right now.
*
Ya, probably. I'll wait smile.gif

My first battery stats on Oreo.

Charged to full at about 10.15pm last night, then off data and wifi when I went to bed at 11pm, reactivated both when the alarm rang at 5.50am. 21 hours standby, 4 hours SOT and 41% batt remaining. Probably just a little worse than Nougat, but good enough for me.

How about you guys?

alright that made up my mind. Gonna get one for myself smile.gif

Yeah, software and update wise, you can't go wrong with this phone, just that if you previously used a flagship grade phone, everything else will feel pretty mediocre. But as far as value goes, can't go wrong with this one.

QUOTE(WiLeKiyO @ Jan 4 2018, 11:56 PM)
Nope, not a single message from Whatsapp.
*
Then probably try to back it up, uninstall it and reinstall. Oh ya, and a phone restart sometimes helps as well.

QUOTE(JustcallmeLarry @ Jan 5 2018, 01:02 AM)
Dammit just when I pulled the trigger and order this phone now I see quite a number of people having problem with their set in the last few pages. Is it a temporary oreo problem or permanent? ??
*
No known problems on mine. If there are some isolated ones, it's probably temporary software bugs that will eventually get fixed.

attw yeah currently using zuk edge another lesser known phone with 821 chipset. Getting this as a spare while waiting for the camera spare parts to arrive. Plus monthly update seems like a good thing to me. Took lenovo forever to push with an update.
*
Oh wow, Zuk Edge! Nice! Yeah, that's kinda rare. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with this little fella. Last year alone, I tried the S8, S8+, Note 8 and U11. As far as battery life goes, none of them came close to what I'm getting from the Mi A1 smile.gif

Wow nice! Even comparing to those flagship this is better biggrin.gif Can't wait for it to arrive >< Any recommended slim casings for it? Ordered the black one with a tempered glass, left a slim case for it now to order. Ohh and whats the average SOT? I mainly uses it for whatsapp, email and social media only tho.
*
Ok, before you get your expectations up, I think I better clarify my statement, hehe. In terms of battery life, outstanding, but everything else in terms of camera, display, functionality is just mediocre, given that this is a midrange phone after all. My usage is roughly about the same as yours and in that respect, the performance is great though. No lags, everything is pretty nifty and smooth. I regularly achieved 3-4hours SOT with about 50-60% battery life remaining when the phone was still on Nougat, but after the latest Oreo upgrade, I did 4 hours SOT, 21 hours standby with 41% battery remaining on my first charge cycle after the update. Can refer here for my Oreo one and my Nougat one here smile.gif

Accessories are a bit hard to come by at retail shops though, so no choice but to go online smile.gif I'm currently using this case

https://www.lelong.com.my/xiaomi-mi-5x-a1-m...7-01-Sale-I.htm

The seller has a physical store but it's in Klang though, not sure where your location is. He's pretty friendly. I went there to get my tempered glass from him as well, but I can't recommend the tempered glass, it has the horrible halo effect. Does the job for 15 bucks though, can't complain smile.gif

No problem I do understand what I'm getting. I think on average daily my sot is about 1-2 hours at work and still got 60%. Left on my zuk when I got back. I'm that minimal haha. So I guess it'll be most likely more than enough for my usage xD thanks for your input man. Really appreciate it. Hope to get similar battery life like yours too ^^
*
No worries bro, I believe with your minimal usage, you'd be able to go longer in between charges!
