I was using P2 before A1. For my usage I must say P2 is a 2 day phone while Mi A1 is a one day phone mainly due to battery size. On average I get 10-12 hours SOT while for A1 I'm getting 5-6hrs SOT with messaging, gps and online gaming. I'm guessing since it's Android One, it's gonna get more updates than the P2. How's the screen on A1? Especially under sunlight.
Software wise A1 will be getting more updates but P2 isn't too bad, with almost stock Android and very minimal skin.
Camera the P2 has better Sony sensor but loses on portrait mode due to its single sensor.
Screen, it uses Amoled so images will look nicer on P2.
Speaker A1 sounds louder but less bass than P2.
Design and physical size, A1 is more comfortable to hold due to thinner body and looks more premium although looks like iPhone 7+ clone.
In summary, if you are a heavy user P2 will be more suitable but if you don't mind charging your phone once a day rather than once in two days, A1 will be more easy to handle and lighter.
