Hi, guys. I wanna buy a laptop for my girlfriend as birthday gift. I currently looking at HP Pavilion 15-CS0033TX , Lenovo Ideapad 320S, Acer Swift 3 (SF314-54G ), Acer Swift 3 15. Which 1 better among these and any other recommendations besides these model?

1. Preferred brand : -
2. Budget : Less than Rm3000, cheaper is better hehe
3. Usage : MS office, youtube, browser, movies ( generally just for normal use )
4. Screen Size : 14-15 inch
5. Prefer slim & light. ( but not necessary, dont too heavy will do)

* I surveyed the price of Acer Swift 3 (SF314-54G ) & Acer Swift 3 15 (8250U+MX150). Price is almost same. However Acer Swift 3 15 has 256GB SSD and 8 GB Ram which Acer Swift 3 (SF314-54G ) only 128GB SSD and 4 GB Ram. Does it means Acer Swift 3 15 is better? Anything i missing out?

Swift 3 15 (SF315-51G) has soldered RAM and thicker bezels (slightly heavier)

All options above are good enough, kudos to your research

Among these models which 1 is the best for u? HP PAVILION 15-CS0033TX ok or not? Any cons for this model?

Besides, may i know how much roughly to upgrade to 8GB Ram? Any reliable yet not too expensive RAM's brand recommended? blush.gif

Thanks!

All are equally good I would say

The battery is smaller but with KBL-R CPU there should be any problem

RAM is RAM, just buy the cheapest with same timings and frequency

Thanks for the reply. I noticed that many laptops will experience 100% disk usage when running ( including my brother & me) , do u know what are the causes? I read some user reviews of HP PAVILION 15-CS0033TX also faced this issue.

No SSD, that's why SSD is essential in W10. HDD is just too slow and crap (personal experience)

Hi. I just bought HP Pavilion - 15-cs0033tx. Need to upgrade the SSD and RAM right? SSD i got one new which bought last year (SanDisk SSD Plus 240GB SSD (520MB/s - SDSSDA-240G-G25) ). This SSD suits right? The SSD is just for OS?

For the RAM, should i replace the existing 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM or keep the existing but add in another 4GB in another RAM slot? Sorry for my noob question as i never upgrade RAM before but i read somewhere if mixing the RAM sometimes it may not works. blush.gif

This RAM ok? https://www.lazada.com.my/products/adata-4g...s332688201.html

That SSD uses 2.5 inch bay so you have to sacrifice the HDD. If you want to keep both HDD and SSD then buy a new M.2 one (SATA or NVMe doesn't matter)

If 8GB is enough for you then X2 4GB RAM, dual channel can provide slightly higher performance. RAM is RAM, just find the cheapest with same timings and frequency

Bro can recommend me which SSD should i choose? i have totally no idea at all how to choose the SSD.

What's your budget and preferred size?

May i know the SSD just for install OS right? Movies, Documents, Programs all can be installed at HDD?

If so, i think 120GB is enough for me as i can put my things in HDD instead SSD. Budget less than RM200 for 120GB and RM350 for 240GB.

If you don't put a lot of large files (like me) then go for 240-256GB SSD (HDD as spare)

If you just want OS drive then 120/128GB

Which one you prefer?
*
Sorry i am quite confused here as i am newbie in tech. How do u mean by ''HDD as spare'' & ''OS Drive''?

Actually i will put a lot of movies in my laptop so i guess i should put them in HDD as SDD has low storage. So i thinking to use SSD to install only OS and HDD to put movies. Is that possible?

1 more question, the stock ram for HP PAVILION 15-CS0033TX is samsung ddr4 2666MHz 19-19-19-43 but from website it stated 2400MHZ. So should i go for 2400 or 2666? The timings is not really important right? Thinking to get this https://www.lazada.com.my/products/kingston...s610253673.html

HDD spare means it's only used for small/not important things. Yeah you need HDD. Actually if you add a little more than rm200 you can get 240-256GB SSD

Check your RAM with software. If 2666MHz it should be CL19
*
Ok bro. Any recommendation for 240-256GB SSD? One of the forumer bought same laptop and he told me the stock RAM is 2666Mhz ( i5 8250u only supports 2400 though) but the website published 2400Mhz instead. Let say the stock RAM is 2666Mhz, should i get 2666 or 2400Mhz?

This is a good budget setup. As long as your OS is in SSD, your boot up time will still be very fast. You can put all your movies and documents in HDD. Important docs, photos, and videos should be sync-ed in cloud storage like OneDrive. With 120GB in your SSD, there is enough space to install all your program files in SSD so they run fast. However games take more space. People normally dont play so many games at a time. Keep your most commonly played games installed in SSD or just uninstall when you know you wont play them for a while. Nowadays broadband are fast, can always download again next time.

Actually i buy this laptop for my gf. She dont play games. Hehe. She use the laptop for normal surfing only so i think 120GB SSD will be more than enough but from others opinion usually 120GB SSD comes with lower specs.

I am currently eyeing these 2 SSD.

a) https://www.lazada.com.my/products/kingston...s571268400.html

b) https://www.lazada.com.my/products/western-...s540999351.html

is that (b) has lower specs? Sata?

2400 or 2666 depends on region. Get the 2666

Kingston A1000 is a good budget choice

Bro, how about if 120GB SSD? Any recommended model? Any cons compared to 240GB SSD besides the storage capacity?
