good display

For your budget you won't get good sRGB display unless you sacrifice a lot on things like hardware (performance, storage, memory), build quality etc

Try Ideapad 320s 14 with RAM+SSD upgrades

Why are new intel coffee-lake chips available on gaming laptop for RM 4k++ but not on conventional laptop? The cheapest non-gaming laptop with coffee-lake is 6k. Or is coffee-lake not meant for such mid-range laptop?

Market is too small I guess...not everyone needs the extra power...and also saves battery life

Not to mention the heat problem too

What will be the model choice for those with GPU and without GPU?
Display size 13 or 14.
Full HD screen is preferable.

Any preference on battery life?

There aren't much options in this price range TBH

Acer Spin 5 13 - soldered RAM, OKish cooling, no dGPU
Lenovo Yoga 530/520 14 - with RAM upgrade (only 1 slot), entry level IPS (low sRGB), with MX130 (940MX) dGPU

1. Thinkpad T480s (WQHD) - 10W MX150 but 8250U CPU can clock at 3.4GHz all core with undervolt, light weight (note that KB backlight is optional so make sure you choose the option)
2. Thinkpad T480 (WQHD) - OKish thermals with 25W MX150, big battery (note that KB backlight is optional so make sure you choose the option)
3. Illegear Onyx - Under 2kg and 2cm thickness, mech KB with RGB (can turn off), bezel less, high performance internals, good build quality+cooling. Small battery (without upgrade)
4. Dell Inspiron 7570 - MX130 (940MX), small battery, need RAM upgrade

Budget - rm3.5k

I5, 8gb ram, 256 ssd, prefer lightweight <1.5kg, good display with max 14".

Currently checking on acer swift 5/lenovo ideapad 720s/asus ux331... Any better suggestion?

Thx.

Lenovo Ideapad 720s 13 (Intel)
HP Envy 13
Asus UX430UN
Asus UX331UA/UN

Or Thinkpad A485 if you don't mind low sRGB panel, great build quality (T480 chassis) and battery life

Dim display (but touchscreen), OKish battery life, performance issue (8250U perform like 7200U)

Unless you want ultra light/slim laptop, wouldn't recommend
