Budget around RM1300. Usage mostly for normal office works, browsing websites, watch HD video etc. Not into gaming

I suggest used business laptops

Looking to get a laptop within the RM2K - 2.5K budget for streaming movies and browsing. Which is best among these and care to recommend some choices to me.

HP Pavilion 15-cs0033TX 15.6" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-8250U, 4GB, 1TB, NV MX150, W10H)

Lenovo Ideapad 320-15IKBRN 81BG00PEMJ 15.6" Laptop/Notebook (i5-8250U, 4GB, 2TB, NV MX150, W10H)
*

Any good recomendation for a new laptop if the budget is up to RM1700?
*
Really, there isn't a good laptop at this budget. The closest ones are probably Chuwi stuffs or Lenovo Ideapad 120s

lightweight is more important, but hopefully big battery too (ultimately just needs it to last long).

I wanted ultrabook, but my friend said his sister's ultrabook overheat after 3-4 hours of google chrome, and the salesperson said they had a customer that sent in a "melted" fan ultrabook after a few hours of "normal usage"
*
Preferred max weight in kg and minimum how many hours of battery life?

Who say Ultrabook will overheat? Sounds like user fault

So you are saying, notebooks with my specs need to go up to RM6k?
I have some budget to stretch that but I need to weigh in the premiums I am getting for paying extra.
Seems like those notebooks having such specs that go below RM5k are ok-ish or mediocre?
My concerns are that I can't really upgrade a notebook and GTX 1060 may go obsolete in a year or two?
Sorry for thinking out loud.
*
If below 5k the only decent 1060 laptop with 8th gen CPU is Level51 W15 Lite (Clevo N950TP6), even though it has its own issues too (but not major ones)

Or AW15 for just a little more (but may need SSD upgrade, panel upgrade etc)

preferably below 2kg , hopefully 6hours of active usage? with wifi on and normal brightness, not dim the screen and stuff.

I'm not knowledgeable about ultrabook overheating, just hearsay and what I can find on google.

I also found a few laptops with i7-8750H, but I read in other threads that you said it is common in having power and temp problems?
*
These models with KBL-R CPU has above average CPU performance (needs undervolting):
Lenovo Thinkpad T480s (i5)
Dell XPS 13 (display size may not suit you)
Xiaomi Notebook Pro

I don't think any 8750H laptop under 2kg has good cooling so I wouldn't recommend any of them (unless you want to put LM), even though the CPU is better for programming. And yes this chip is hard to cool

Wanted to buy a laptop to play maplestory
Any recommendation on laptop around 2.5k which is the best fit for the game without screen freeze or lag
*
Does the game requires dGPU? Or iGPU is fine?

What's your preferred max weight, display size and battery life?

Thanks for your advice. So you are saying nothing comes free.
Level51 W15 Lite is still better than the likes of Acer Helios etc?
How much is the market price for AW15 for such specs?
Why upgrade the SSD (storage size too small?), the panel (TN panel?) and what else?
Don't mind me asking smile.gif
*
W15 Lite is slightly better than Helios 300 (especially cooling)

AW15 is around rm5100 if not mistaken (8300H+1060+8GB+1TB SSHD). SSD for smoother OS experience and faster loading times. The default 60Hz IPS panel isn't bad by any means but I'll strongly suggest 120Hz panel upgrade

Is the new lenovo legion Y530 (i5,1050ti) suitable for playing modern games such as Assassin Creed,Tomb raider,Dota 2?

If so..,hows the thermal of the laptop?

Highly interested in it as it is only the gaming laptop that has modern look ( slim bezel,no red colour ) in the budget range...

Help me Sifu..,
*
It has good thermals (still can't handle 8750H just like most other models)

What's your budget? Preferred max weight and battery life?

I'm getting one soon, will do a review

Hi guys,

What is the biggest laptop size available for price below 3.5k, 17 inch?
*
There are 17 inch laptops with that budget, but I don't think there's a decent model at this price range

Guys. Between asus zenbook 13, dell vostro 13 and hp envy 13, which one has better Build, thermal control and good for light gaming such as Diablo 3? Budget below rm4k
*
UX331UN or Envy 13 are both good. Don't expect good thermals in 13 inch Ultrabooks with dGPU
