Ideapad 320 has mediocre build quality. Ideapad 330 has improved build quality but still not good enough. Both have mediocre input devices, mediocre display and mediocre battery life. Don't just look at specs when buying laptops.

If you want MX150 for cheap then Acer Swift 3 (SF314-54G), need RAM upgrade

Any laptop with i5 processor , durable battery performance .

Purpose. Is mostly mobility and optimum performance without lag
*
Durability and reliability are not the same. Durable simply means tough, like Thinkpad T series. Reliability is long term age which is unpredictable

Ideapad 320s 14, cheap yet good enough 8250U laptop, need RAM+SSD upgrades

Looking for a ultraportable for work use and frequent travel. Something light in weight, has acceptable battery life (avg 6 hours) and able to do photo editing.

Ryzen mobile APU will struggle in 13 inch laptops as most of them are configured with 15W power limit due to cooling limitation. Ryzen mobile APU at 15W will perform slightly worse than Intel KBL-R at 15W, however they have good Vega iGPU (10W MX150 is still faster) which needs dual channel memory to perform better

Budget? Preferred display size? Any special requirements?

Thanks for the feedback. Budget is below rm5k. 13-14 inh display with windows ink support. Need it light and portable and good battery life as per mentioned in earlier post. Charging via USB Cable would be good too
*
Spectre x360 13 is a good one, also can consider Asus UX461UA (256GB), Lenovo Thinkpad L380 Yoga (upgradable RAM), Acer Spin 5 13. If you don't mind lower display quality then Yoga 520/530

Ryzen laptops have slightly worse battery life. Also requires a few things to maximize performance (though KBL-R laptops also need tuning like undervolting and increasing PL1 limit)

Hi.

Budget : ~RM2000

Use for work - Excels, multiple tabs browsing, photoshops
Lightweight, 13 or 14
FullHD

Currently looking at Acer Swift 1 SF113-31.
Want to ask here, is the SSD upgradeable?
Any other laptop recommendation?

Thank you.

You need good CPU for your usage. So Ideapad 320s 14 with RAM+SSD upgrades

Hello all sifus and gurus, I'm looking for a laptop to replace my old MBP.

Budget : below 4k

Use for work - extensive Excels usage (more than 5 excel file open at the same time), multiple tabs browsing, photoshops
Lightweight, 13 or 14
FullHD
128-256 SSD (no need HDD or bigger hard disk as all my file are stored on my external hard drive)

Currently on eye at Acer Swift 5, but since i never used Acer before maybe anyone can share me the experience with Acer (reliability, support). Any other suggestion is mostly welcomed

Asus UX430

Hi I am looking for recommendation for laptop as well:

Budget: RM 1600-Rm 2000
Purpose: Work (Microsoft office, PDMS Model review)
Brand: any brand
Core: Intel
Size: 14/15 inch.

My priority is towards processor speed & decent graphic card (prefer a dedicated one). Doesn't care too much with size, battery life and screen.

Need to increase budget if you want something new like Ideapad 320s 14 with RAM+SSD upgrades

i have narrow down to few models, would you advise on their respective after sales service?
*
If you really care about aftersales support then Thinkpad T480, though I don't think you can get the best specs with this budget. Sadly Dell options at this price range aren't that great. Dell Vostro 5471 has OKish battery life and input devices.

Asus UX331, Asus UX430 and HP Envy 13 are good options. Swift 5 has dim panel, CPU performance issue and OKish battery life but still decent. Ideapad 320s 14/15 ans Swift 3 are for budget orientated users

Hi sifu,

dGPU referring to discrete GPU? No need as I believe there's integrated GPU right? My wife do not game so no issue.
Importantly are those points I mentioned earlier above.

Thanks!

Dear Sifus,

Need some opinion on getting new laptop,

Budget: <RM3500
Purpose: Daily use, constantly doing video editing & converting, gaming
Brand: any brand
Core: Intel i5/ i7
Size: 15 inch.
Other: Graphic card GTX 1050 or higher, prefer laptop doesnt heat up easily

With all the requirement above, is Dell G3 with SSD and RAM upgrade my best bet? or there are better option? thanks.

Dell G7, Illegear Raven
Or 8750H models with repaste: Nitro 5, Pavilion Gaming
MSI GL63 is quite good but I have no confidence on its QC+QA
