Hi guys, i'm looking at purchasing a notebook that can last me for the next few 4-5 years. I've more or less come down to these choices:

i5 (G7 or 8 doesn't matter)
8GB RAM
512GB SSD preferred
13" and below
Touchscreen
1.4kg and below (the lighter the better)
Budget: RM4k and below

Hope i can get some good help from the pros here..

I think performance will be the main concern. I'll go for better cooling, build and display.
*
inspiron then follow by acer helios.. predator top range very competitve to other brand... but the low range 1... con job i would say.. acer nitro better worth of money in the low range..

is xiaomi pro/air laptop worth the price? vs dell xps
*
xiaomi pro/ air at the most is lenovo ideapad grade.. cant even compete to asus zenbook...

n u r comparing the top tier xps... is like comparing bentley to long wall (china car)

I disagree here. Xiaomi Notebook Pro/Air has good build quality (mid range Zenbook level). Performance on the Pro module is excellent due to good cooling.
*
tat is becoz all the reviewer r told not to stress it... lenovo ideapad hv better stress test result compare to xiaomi..

juz like thunderobot did the crazy drop test.. they just show the pros... cons.. try to bury as many as possible.. did u heard xps 9370 fan r loud in most review.. no right...

its CNY 4999

- 8 gen cpu
- MX150 GPU
- 16 GB ram.
- macbook design (although the edge abit sharp which i dun like)
- Full HD
my 2nd choice is Dell XPS 13 4k display
but the price is almost same like MBP, why get dell?
*
dun forget there r no official warranty for xiaomi mibook yet in malaysia.. i claim my xiaomi redmi note 3 b4.. n their rma service in lowyat plaza r not so pleasant.. (i m too used to dell onsite.. spoil kid in rma field de)

NBC stress test result no problem? Of course marketing doesn't mean anything to me. Yes I do know that XPS 13 9370 has a quite loud fan noise when heavy stressed.
*
u run 1 2 test sure no problem 1.. after 3 months n 6 months u see... china brand design in such a way tat 10 months lifespan.. when u realise problem come.. warranty already end..

apple did it on software side.. china did it with hardware.. n nvidia did with patches

Any proof on this?

macro economy bro... china mobile manufacturing cant sustain the overhead if more than 45% of the user dint change their gadget within 2 years.. something to do with this "the light bulb theory"

tbh we dun see any major changes in IT n smartphone revolution wat.. ppl change fon n IT gadget mainly becoz - it hv some minor faulty.. there is a lifespan on ur smartphone screen oso.. the 1st 3 months hardly ur screen ur crack when u fall flat on the ground... but after 9 months.. mayb 1yr.. the same screen will crack even u fall flat on the ground with tempered glass n no sharp object...
