Hi all,

I wish to ask - For months now my 2008 Saga BLM is getting smelly. The exhaust emits smells like burnt carbon, something like stinking carbon. At times I can even smell it inside my car.

Some friends told me it was the O2 Sensor issue ... something like unburnt gas?

Can pals here give advice on what is the problem and what needs to be changed?

Thanks in advance. TQ

There are two common causes

a) one or more of your spark plugs is weak or not working, causing unburnt fuel to exit through the exhaust. In such cases you would see noticeable loss of power and high fuel consumption.

b) Your O2 sensor is faulty, causing the air-fuel mixture to run rich (the mixture is more saturated with fuel than normal). Again unburnt fuel will exit through the exhaust. You will also observe signficantly higher fuel consumption in this case.

Other rarer causes include faulty ECU and faulty injector, among others.

In any case, you will need to get it fixed ASAP. Higher fuel consumption nothwithstanding, your catalytic converter will die soon if high amount of unburnt fuel continue to filter throught it.

The smell enter the cabin?

Check your exhaust if theres any crack. My friend lst time his manifold crack..got smell coming in to cabin

If theres no check engine light, mean your O2 sensor still ok

sometimes only i smell a bit of carbon-like smell inside but not often. however, the exhaust pipe does gives out rotten egg smell all the time.
check engine light is never on but rarely the air bag light comes on. any further opinions bro?
