Can I still insist to change the battery if the battery life says my phone is still able to support peak performance?

Just curious, when they replace the battery will they give a temporary phone for 2-3 hours until their job is completed? Otherwise how to notify us the job is completed? Or are we supposed to stay there for them to finish the job?
