QUOTE(acbc @ Jan 3 2018, 12:00 PM)
"We’ve always wanted our customers to be able to use their iPhones as long as possible. We’re proud that Apple products are known for their durability, and for holding their value longer than our competitors’ devices."

ROTFLMA!

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 3 2018, 12:01 PM)
LOL I read that too.. sweat.gif
*
Actually, to a certain extent, that is not untrue. The iPhone 6 Plus was launched in 2014 at RM 2,749 for the lowest 16GB spec and compare that vs the Note 4 which also launched in 2014 for RM2,499.

See the difference between what is being offered for the 6 Plus vs the Note 4.

or if you got opportunity going to Sg, do it there. 2 hours

But the Apple Store will have loads of people too, I believe. Wonder if they can really keep to 2 hours as promised?

they control the crowd by a systematic online reservation.
*
Ahhh, OK, that's how they manage. Too bad our authorized distributors don't have that service!

looks like there are mixed answers on whether they will replace batteries that are 3rd party outsourced. Wonder if anyone from AASP would be able to clear the air.

QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Jan 4 2018, 10:07 AM)
As long as there are non original Apple parts in your phone, they won’t touch it.
*
Yeah, I also believe that will be the case.

i got this issue before with samseng...
screen issue cant boot, sent for repair
1 week later go back they said not part of warranty, need to pay this for repair... so i said no need repair
then they say to get back to phone, you need to pay rm50. even you dont want to repair...
apple got aa.. dont want repair but still pay them to get back the pong
that dianogsis charges... rm100 .. need to pay that?
*
I think most service centers will have some kind of nominal labour charge just to run diagnostics even without repairing. Pretty normal.

Can we send email to Tim Cook to ask for that? biggrin.gif

His response would probably be along the lines of “Malaysia? What’s that?”

I went Apple Center Sg on Tuesday to diagnose my out of warranty iP6. FOC. Turns out mobo died.
I believe those APR pocket the money.
*
Yeah, big difference between Apple store and APR. So yours is a MOBO problem and not battery? Did you get it replaced?

QUOTE(belfong @ Jan 5 2018, 11:53 AM)
My friend made an appointment with machines. He was told that the technician will check the battery health and if it’s due for change, then they will order the parts. Which means he needs to leave the phone with them for 5-7 days. If this is the case, it is better for us to wait for Apple to release the patch (they said it’s Jan) to check battery health ourselves so we can see how severe our battery is and decide if you want to send in the beginning of the year or end of the year, when it deteriorate further.
*
QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Jan 5 2018, 12:01 PM)
if your friend are paying for it and not claiming warranty, the diagnosis results doesn't really matter. they will have to change if your friend insist. else, call Apple.
*
I agree. This is not a warranty case, it's a paid replacement, so we can insist to have it replaced. Just the waiting time for the replacement can be an issue especially for those with no backup phones.

If third party repairers can do it within 5-10 minutes, Apple's authorized service centers taking 5-7 working days should really be ashamed of themselves, hahaha.

I would still go for aasp despite the 7 days wait (could also be a day), at least don't need worry about parts whether are there original or not, and to make it worse, whether the technicians are certified or not is another issue, proper measurements to open up and resealing back phone is another important parts.... so many important measurements here, I'd go for aasp even if its 14 days, plus....aasp program is still cheaper..
*
Oh yeah, definitely. Without a doubt smile.gif

My go-to Apple technician (not affiliated to any Apple resellers) told me that for the programme, the Apple hardware test will determine if the battery life is up to 20 per cent only will they decide to exchange the battery for you.

RM129 plus long queues is not worth it since my battery life is not as affected that badly. OEM batteries cost RM180 to RM191 and it can be done in half an hour to an hour's time.

I waited an hour to find that out at a reseller store. So save your time and headache and just get an OEM battery for less time and less money.
*
I thought if you’re paying for the battery then they’ll have to change it regardless of the diagnostic test results?

anyone already received their phone from the battery replacement program?

did you get your exact phone, or a refurbished unit?

I should think you'll get back your phone, shouldn't be otherwise. You can always check the IMEI
