I saw a house that has just been renovated and no iron grills was used. Unbreakable glass was used for all windows and the contractor told me the special glass is 2 layer glass and cannot be broken,so no need to install ugly iron grills. Are such glass windows really unbreakable ? How much do they cost ?

You can laminate it like car window. I think you see a lot those car tinted safety shield. You can use it on your house windows too.

But thief not just break your window glass. The frame is important too. I would just crowbar the window frame rather break the glass. Since glass sound will attract people.

Another is the 1st impression given to the thief. I try your house 1st rather your neighbour with a prison grill.

also: first impression if no grills must be really secure, rather go elsewhere is more closely to the truth. i am not using grills and we never even had an attempted break-in (touch wood) while others in the neighbourhood had break-ins. go figure.

This is a U.S. company; do they sell their products here in Malaysia ? If yes, any outlets in Klang Valley ?

I did my house where windows and sliding doors all without grille. Was using tempered glass, 10mm thickness i think.

Same glass as used for banks. It's not unbreakable but it takes a lot more force to break it. Also like weikee mentioned, the frame itself is also important. Has to ensure the glass sits deep enough that its not so easy to pry out.

If you want to ensure even higher security can add the security tint. But never use normal glass for this type of application as it shatters more easily.

There is this things called ninja rock, i try in many laminated and safety windows before it does break glass like paper. For laminated, just have to try few more stone and use knife to cut away.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llu-ckEe5cQ (watch the 4:30 onward for commercial glass breakage. )

Anyone have safety glass, please give it a try.

Used it for my house windows & sliding door.. its not 100% unbreakable.. just taking longer time to break in.

Sliding Door Cost: 11.7ft x 8 ft = RM10k (uPVC frame & 8.8mm glass thicknes)

Wow ! Damn expensive ! If normal glass, maybe just RM500, so your glass is 20X more expensive !
