Hey guys,

After 1/2 a day of effort and much reading, I've finally managed to Tri-boot Mac OsX, Vista and Ubuntu Feisty on my macbookpro. Got almost everything working with Ubuntu and installed beryl without much problems. So those of you who would like to try your hands on Ubuntu 7.04 on your beloved Mac machines, I suggest this site for your kind perusal. It's one of the simplest and workable guide I've came across so far.

http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/jzshen/install_feisty.htmlhttp://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/jzshen/install_feisty.html

Make sure U have internet connect when u are installing this. Terminal will need to download the ati driver in order for Gnome to work. Also, make sure you install grub on your linux partition instead of MBR.

Post installation guides are all over the web and can be configured with ease.
For C2D user, kindly use Ndiswrapper as wifi Driver. Madwifi Driver is only for CD users.

For beryl Use xserver-glx ATI driver instead of xorg.fglrx driver. After the installation, U will need to manually add beryl and emerald theme to the start up session.

Cheers~!

Hmmm.... anymore guide on how to install Linux on MB?

Following the website, it says press F6 when my MAC starts up. I tried that ... nothing happened, it just goes straight into my Windows/MAC OSX.

edit: For above, seems like i need to download refIT first.

Also there are a few steps from that website that requires us to use come command line in Terminal, do we do it from the Ubuntu Terminal or MAC OSX Terminal? (what about this 'problem'?)

Or can i boot my MB using the LIVE CD and install straight from there? (by holding Alt button when the MB boots and select to boot from Ubuntu?)

I think the steps were simple than everyone ever thought. I install kuBuntu 7.04 without any problem and all works well except have to download 915 drivers from universe repository to enable 1280x800. And there were also script to enable the optical in to be the HDD light indicator. As for me, I firstly boot into Mac OS, create a partition using bootcamp and then when it ask wether you want to start installation or not, just choose not to install. Then restart Mac OS, insert kuBuntu/uBuntu CD and hold ctrl key then choose kuBuntu/uBuntu to boot with. Enter the desktop and test first is all the hardware working properly if you're satisfied then proceed to install by just clicking the install icon at the top left. This is where you need to be carefull. At the partitioning option, make sure you create the swap partition, leave the Mac OS partition untouched, create your kuBuntu/uBuntu partition and leave 128MB free space for bootcamp. Then just proceed like usual. After finish install then restart back to Mac OS and now you can install rEFIt. restart again to make sure the partition blessed by rEFIt and if you can see the Linux/Mac OS icon after turn on your mac then the rEFIt is succesfully installed. Then you can choose either Mac or Linux. Good luck!

Sounds like a whole lot easier now.

I have Win XP install through BootCamp now, it doesn't matter right? (hopefully)

edit : Found out that the partition is only left with 3GB ++ .... thats quite a low number sad.gif

Alright, gonna try it now

Since my HDD is only 60GB so I choose to install only kuBuntu (10GB) and OSX (45GB) if you have bigger HDD space sure you can install Tiger, uBuntu and XP alltogether. And let say you want to install only uBuntu and Tiger and you've got XP partition you can just boot the live CD and directly use the XP partition, which i recommend biggrin.gif
