QUOTE(dodgy88 @ Feb 16 2019, 03:25 AM)
I’ve got the 50-6800X in Jan 2019 and was checking out the Sony equivalent (X7500F). Price is slightly higher with 55’’ option but was turned off  by the fact it was running Android 6 (big difference in terms of interface). I asked if it can run Android 7 was told not at the moment, I asked 2 different Harvey outlets. Same reply. I’m very happy with the 6800, nice display and good stable Android OS and apps.

I’ve also got the sharp 4K 630X from 3 years ago which is still working fine. So far Sharp Android tv has been good in terms of their software updates (took efffort to do it constantly), 630X was updated from v4 to v6. Kodi just got updated again this week !

I’m now looking for a 55” or 60”, thinking should I get a Sony instead. I understand Sony has the direct LED compare edge with Sharp. Not sure the difference is that big but content wise 4K content is not widely available, even Netflix 4K content mostly doesn’t look that genuinely 4K for most of them. So I’m not sure if the display difference is that huge.

Software and OS updates is another consideration. Anyone heard reviews about or tried recent Sony Android TVs before ? Are they good in terms of durability and software updates? Would love to know about this. With Sharp Android TV 630x, it even beat the lifespan my Android TV box, which I find so difficult to update apps and OS (can’t update at all). I would also choose an Android TV over those Smart TV with better display any day as the “not so” Smart TV apps are so restricted (can’t install common android apps like KODI and most apps are really of no use). Of course, not forgetting chromecast feature which is so useful on Android TVs only, not on the “not so” smart tv (unsure if I’m 100% right here) . Also IMO, no point having the best display when you are only watching ASTRO HD and have to find ways externally (which may not be legal ! smile.gif ) to look for very good content.

Sharp Msia just launched also the AL1 models replacing the 6800. Can’t see much the difference, notice the new models is much lighter in weight compare to the 6800s though.

good experience description, not very different from my own.
yes, ue630x has been v good for >3years old now, android6 but will not get upgrades anymore.
it is always better to get a device with latest android version rather than older ones.

about android boxes, i wud suggest u pay more and get a better one if buying again.
the better ones are very durable; i hv a couple >7 years old, still working.
and have good user support and get updates for at least 2-3 years.

Purchased 4TC60AL1X from BigHomexpo last week for RM3250 + 160 cashback using Favepay.

Awaiting delivery in upcoming weeks as they haven't received the stock in their store.

I remember reading from Sharp website that 4TC60AL1X  has Edge lit, but the sales man keep on sayings its full lit.

anyway not bothered so much about it. Will update once i got my unit delivered.
*
pretty good price.

yes, when ready, pls do a review here or start a new thread "AL1X" although it is almost the same as ua6800x.

that will succeed ue630x and ua6800x threads.

Could someone tell me difference between 4tc60ah1x and 4tc60ah8x???
Sharp Malaysia
*
i am not into new TVs but my guess is ah1x is a bit better than ah8x - in terms of design and hardware.

but both are inferior to al1x.

so, i suggest u consider al1x instead unless u must save on small bucks.

or the older ua6800x which is popular as u can see from this thread.

al1x and ua6800x are android8 androidtv based.

some people will tell it such a feature is useless if u have a box already, which i disagree.

tvs built with android tv tyically have better hardware, upscaling and support, besides the ability to run android apps incl astrogo and unifi playtv which many boxes can't do.

and if not mistaken, i think u have been hunting for some time now, settled on hisense or haier??

reposting my own below from another thread.

unifi playtv app 7.9.2 works fine on ua6800x.

together with astrogo, u can watch all of them with just the tv, the remote and a mouse - in pretty good video quality.
QUOTE
not sure if my eyes are playing tricks or if unifi has actually improved their stream quality due to new customers now not getting STB's.

i seem to see better quality streams on playtv app.

those "HD" streams now appear more like 576/720 to me when they were more like 360/480 previously.

so, good for new users using the app.
also, if u do not already know... youtube offers several int'l live news channels now - channel news asia, bernama, aljzeera, bloomberg in hd, CGTN in sd.

*
has it ever worked?

do u hv puffin browser and orientation app installed and active?

check, be sure it is 8.2.6 - this is the current and most stable version.

then, try this:

go settings, about, restart - to restart the android.

u must hv did something incorrect. try below, step by step, it will work.

QUOTE
ASTROGO - Android 8.0:

after update to android 8.0 (sep 2018), astrogo installation:

if u want to install/reinstall astrogo, it is easier on this android 8.

.. get astrogo v8.2.6 (official version is fine), put in USB->tv usb.
.. must have orientation app installed, set to landscape. this one will work:
https://apkpure.com/set-orientation/com.goo....setorientation
.. (previous "rotation app" which worked on android5, 6, 7 does NOT work here.)
.. if u did not accept proposed Puffin TV app during android8 update, please install it from playstore - required as installer package for astrogo.
.. (chrome or es file explorer NOT required and not preferred, and if u use either, u have to grant permission as installer.)
.. install from playstore X-plore as file manger to install; once u click install, it takes u to PuffinTV - click on the box "astrogo login"; the rest is straightforward.
.. a mouse is required to navigate; remote will not do.

*
that is strange; u shud hv received a prompt to update by now; the update arrived a couple of months ago.

u can contact sharp service and ask.

what size is yr tv?

what internet speed? wifi or ethernet?

astrogo can work with android7 but need a couple diff steps.

hi, 4TC50AL1X at esh is 2370, is that a good buy compare with some offer at lazada of model LC50UA6800X below 2k? latest model always better?
*
ua6800x is almost a year old, at tail end, about to be phased out, i wud think.

best to view both side by side, decide.

generally, a newer model is preferred.

but price diff is quite big...

both android 8, no major tech diff afaik.

the lc50ua6800x wifi can only connect to 2.4GHz wifi, and not 5GHz wifi.
could the sharp 2019 model can?
it does 5ghz.

maybe yr distance too far or router issue.

if all ok, do a settings/about/restart - that may help.

2)What is the recommended output method to achieve best sound  quality. Currently connected my thru optic cable from TV to Soundbar. Not using any other devices.
At the moment i choose "Bitrate [SPDF]" as output.. there is also PCM and Dolby Digital in my tv
Whereas my soundbar supports dolby true HD
*
al1x like ua6800x have almost identical specs.

for audio, dolby digital only.

while optical can carry dd and dts, this tv cannot do dts (they dun pay for the license, my guess).

u can try tv native playback and confirm it's same with ua6800x - dd only, dts no sound at all.

the only way to play dts is using another app - mx or kodi - u can get 2.0 or transcoded dd5.1.

as for setting, think there is explanation in the settings itself.

usage of optical will mean one thing - u will only get dd5.1 or 2.0, nothing higher.

however, i am not sure if using hdmi arc will be any diff as i dun use that.

*
that sony 65" is almost double the price of the 60" al1x - same class?!

one thing - that sony can do DTS, that sharp cannot.

What about the spec? The picture quality on x8500 look better than al1x when I walkpass Harvey Norman but I didn't test out the tv. Now considering getting sharp 4tc70al1x or Sony kd65x8500f
*
when buying a tv, there are many things to consider, depends what is impt 2 u.

some will look at specs only, some look at brand only, some at price only.

u have to decide yrself what matters to u and only u know it.

no point spending big bucks to get the state of the art to watch aztro or rtm.

also, it is rare to find someone who has used several tv's to tell u correctly what is best or worst and that depends on what he/she needs/wants.

so, when someone tells u this is better or that is worse, ask if that person has actually used both to be really able to say it.

and that's why there are choices... there is no wrong or right choice, a matter of what yr priorities are at the time of purchase.

if yr criteria is reasonable cost, androidtv, reliability, durability, al1x or ua6800x aren't bad choices.

if u hv big budget, want big brand name or latest tech or best reviews, u can go for others.

Understood that AL1X has Bluetooth out?
*
from the official specs, i doubt it since it is the same as ua6800x.

QUOTE(iori_argami @ Mar 12 2019, 08:12 PM)
is the androidtv ok? or should i just get 6500 + a android tv box?
*
this will depend on how well u know and how u will use the androidtv or box.
it is handy to have the tv doing android apps and no need another box.
however, if u hv a very good android box, the audio and video quality will be better.
lastly, tv with androidtv os typically have better hardware and support than those without.
so, weigh and decide which works better for u, incl $.

Just buy the Sharp 4TC40AH1X 4K HDR Smart TV today, cost RM1350. happy.gif
wish to ask that, 4K and HDR source are auto active when i play movie or games those support 4K and HDR? @@

I download 4K short clip and test it, picture are so beautiful, so like it. happy.gif
Play as default, did not change any setting.
*
ah1x is a lower model to al1x.
4k hdr is auto, no need to set anything on tv.
if source is 4khdr, u can see it when u press "display" button of remote.

i have also read that, no idea why such comments.

maybe they use lousy apps, too much junk, never reset, never clean up...??

i hv used sharp ue630x for >3years and ua6800x for 6 months now.

both models, whether native apps, playstore apps or sideloaded apps, no problems.

5ghz wifi works well at short distance, 2.4ghz works for longer distance.

if u can post a photo showing the buttons clearly, i may be able to tell u which button.

Guys,

i encounter the exact same problem.

Was using my remote control to play something on youtube. suddenly this service mode came up.

i think i pressed something the screen seems warm colour and the tv model got changed to ax1x i see some 8k picture options.

Anyone knows how to fix this ?
*
i have not encountered this on ua6800x.

if the picture turns warm, it means the temp setting has been changed.

u can try checking under tools-picture-advanced-temp... see if anything weird there.

all settings are by default 0.... u can reset.

wired mouse, wireless mouse, airmouse will work.

and u need that for certain apps.

I heard from tbm sales that sharp tv processors best work for 50 inch tv.  60 and 70 inch picture are not as good as 50. Any truth of that?
*
yep, salesmen may say that to nudge u to buy other brands for commission reasons.

having used/observed several sharp sizes and models, i will say not true.

they are just diff.. e.g...

ue630x series give excellent overall picture quality but can't do HDR well.

ua6800x series can do HDR, give deeper colors and wider contrast, more control/variations but picture not as crisp as ue630x.

ah1x, al1x, ax1x... i can't and won't comment as i have not used them.

a tv is a slave to the source and player.. u need to get these right too.

if yr play a good source with a good player, a good tv will give u excellent results.

there are other factors beside "picture quality" - how "smart", i.e. androidtv or not, durability, service support.

tvs's are getting cheaper... 10 years ago, we pay rm5-6k for a 42" lcd tv.

today, with weaker rm, we pay only rm3-3.5k for 60" 4k HDR led tv.

apa lagi mau?! biggrin.gif
