Hi guys, I'm getting different feedback from my friend that is now in Japan.

Some say is cold, some said just nice. I was wondering what should I prepare to wear? I don't wanna overpack.

Curious on how many layer to wear on day and night. There's heater in the hotel, so do we still need to wear long sleeve and long pants to sleep?

Which place you visiting? Now consider winter season even Tokyo can reach 3-4 degree during night and around 10 during day. If you type of wake up and out early or travel till late night then consider wear more. For myself I wear uniqlo heattech innerwear (upper and lower body) with normal t-shirt, jeans and winter jacket enough for me on 0 degree weather.

Konbanwa minnasan,

I don't know if this is the right thread to post in. Mods, I leave it up to you to remove or relocate this post. Anyway, I'm going to Tokyo in April and I have booked the Airbnb accommodation in Shinjuku.

The address was in Japanese so I asked for the English version. When I typed the English address in Google Maps I couldn't get the directions from Shinjuku Station.

All I got was 'unnamed roads' which is flabbergasting because I've gone to Japan many times and Google Maps is my Bible to get around. I don't know if it's my browser or if it's a technical error but I tried it for a couple of days.

Anyone faced similar situations before? I want to ask my host but I think it's not really her fault if Google Maps can't show me directions to the accommodation.

Happened to me before, what I did is I view study the map from airbnb and note down street name and no. then manual search on google map put a pin or refer to nearest point of interest to guide me.

Hi all,

I need advice on the below itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival at almost midnight
Day 2: Tokyo (Asakusa, Skytree, Akihabara, Ueno, Tokyo Tower, Kokyo Gaien, Ginza, Tsukiji if still there next year)
Day 3: Tokyo Disneyland
Day 4: Hokane, Gotemba, Lake Kawaguchiko
Day 5: Lake Kawaguchiko >> back to Tokyo (Odaiba, Shinjuku)
Day 6: Nikko Day trip
Day 7: Saitama Day trip
Day 8: Tokyo (Shibuya, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, Ikeburo)
Day 9: Tokyo free & easy & fly back to KL at night

Do I need JR pass? The ticket is MYR 1k+ but mostly my trips are still within Kanto region (except Fuji). Currently I'm not too sure if buying unlimited pass will be better or using IC card is better. Any other cards to recommend if according to the above itinerary? Try to squeeze my budget actually.

You have too many places to visit on day 2 suggest to cut down tokyo gaien, Ginza and tsukiji for next time while the other all nearby train station, Akihabara is best visit during weekend road close for pedestrian paradise and I spend afternoon and night over there biggrin.gif . For Nikko trip I would recommended 2 days to explore more places since you spend most time travel long hours train already...

For day one Nakano broadway if you plan to shop tax free figures, toy manga etc from Mandarake 7.30pm the tax free counter will close. Most shops will close slightly early compare with Malaysia but restaurant still open until 10-11 i think.

Going to pick up a 8 day pocket wifi around tokyo area.
What price i should target if i want 4g LTE? under 6k yen?

Try travel travelrecommends pocket wifi before? Can pickup from KLIA/KLIA2 airport and currently promotion one day RM18, free 2 days if booking more than 4 days with TRFOC2 code and unlimited internet for Japan region. Used it for my Hokkaido trip last 2 week quite good except sometimes the pocket wifi overheated need reset. smile.gif

Sound good but rm200 deposit is kind of..eh for me.

Compare to to other choice i researched:
[8 Days RENTAL] SoftBank 601HW (20GB) with repair fee ¥4,680 = RM170 if convert at best rate
https://en.wifi-rental-store.jp/price.html#scl_rental_items
While econnect LTE 8 day 10GB + Portable Power Bank (2400mAh) is ¥5,304 = RM 192
https://www.econnectjapan.com/products/wifi/lte

Which one would be better for my choice? Do note that i use Redmi Note Pro 5 now so there might be problem if i plugin in japan LTE sim card but can't get 4G data sweat.gif

Both seems to be fine, can pick one that most suitable budget and convenient for you to pick up or return the device.
