Dear all;

Would like to seek your advise regarding Shirakawa-go Light Up 2019.

Link below is the tour package to Shirakawago Light Up Event.

Nohi Bus

Japan Bus Facebook

The package I am looking at is Package B (to observatory deck) and C (view light up in Ogimachi Village/ Gassho-zukuri Minkaen Outdoor Museum). I would prefer to take Package B as it is the main objective of the trip. However taking Package B will meant I will miss the last JR train back to Toyama Station.

Hence the question is, if I opt for Package C is it possible for me to walk up to the Shiroyama Observatory Deck to view the light up (1km + distance) or die die need to stick with the tour?

Public transport route is still in the midst of finalisation but will use a mixture of Osaka Amazing Pass, Eco Pass, Bus Pass, Kintetsu Rail Pass and Kyoto Bus/Subway Pass.

Would really appreciate if all can give comments for the plan above. Thanks

Thanks for your input RegentCid.

I did consider getting KTP but the rationale behind is I need to take into account the trip to Ise Shima and Kanazawa which KTP does not cover after checking with JNTO Msia.

Further crunching the figures also suggest based on this set of itinerary KTP does not pay off as well. Will further refine the itinerary see how I can optimise KTP.

Am pondering whether is it worth to do the side trip to Ise Shima. hmm.gif Any thoughts on Ise Shima?

Your Itinerary cover too many places which I did not recommended. You going for Vacation or going for Marathon Race?
Japan Center + Japan West already.
Your Kanazawa + Ise Shima are Center part, should be Nagoya as Based. Shall keep it as next time trip.
Because of Japan center & west so you need alot of passes.

Since you coming In & Out at Kansai which is Japan West. You shall focus on Japan West. take out Kanazawa for Himeji + Okayama + Hiroshima. take out Ise Shima for Amanohasidate
Focus on West side more then you just need KTP + JR Kansai - Hiroshima Area Pass

Appreciate your input RegentCid.

Will remove Ise Shima side trip and opt for Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass for Kanazawa.

Likely I will move one or two Kyoto spots to the last day at Kyoto and paired with Himeji trip.

Thanks again for your input. notworthy.gif

Really admire these kind of detailed itineraries ... almost all the routes and fares calculated, and compared to passes price (whether worth buying or not for that day or whole trip).
But usually need a volunteer leader/tour guide to enforce the plans laugh.gif , and sometimes, depending on the companions, some would question why need to walk further just to save fare (there's a station right in front wor  sweat.gif ) ... solo or 2 only easier; three or more, have to explain in advance the itineraries.  tongue.gif
The itinerary is drafted such that it is swappable between days and easier for me to do BQ when I want to freeze the schedule flow. wink.gif

I remember iinm moderator sweetpez mentioned before part of the fun is to come up with the itinerary and keep refining it. If there's additional ppl joining the trip, convenience of moving around will be priority with less hectic schedule.

Returned from Kyoto-Osaka trip 3 weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed sightseeing at Kyoto, but less so at Osaka.

The temple night illumination at Kyoto is definitely one of the main highlight of the trip.

Kimono Forest is really a sight to behold at night when it is illuminated.

Visited Kenrokuen Garden at Kanazawa and nice to see the yellow colour maple tree leaves.
