err...no

The website e-Romancecar, you are just paying for the limited express surcharge which is 890yen (not 890yen + 1190yen ticket fare). You still need to buy a standard ticket or Freepass separately. Clearly remember this because I did it 2 years ago.

I can confirm this. I paid my Romancecar surcharge online and then bought the Freepass in Shinjuku.

For Fushimi Inari, you don't really have to go to the peak unless you want to pray or for bragging rights. It's just a lot of shrines there. There is a mid-point which opens up to a nice view of the city which you do want to reach at least. I'm not sure if the food stalls along the street at the base is open daily but I grabbed a few bites when I got back down.

For Arashiyama, I was there last week and it gets crowded very quickly. Try to go as early as you can. I messed up some photos in the morning and went back in the afternoon to re-take some shots and it was impossible.

I wouldn't recommend you walk all the way from Osaka-jo to Kuromon (ie. slot in a subway ride in between). It's quite a distance and you'll be tired out. The sushi at Kuromon market was actually pricier compared to proper sushi prepared by chefs at Endo Sushi at the wholesale market and Harukoma sushi. I found Harukoma to be very good value for money. I went to the Harukoma branch at Tenjinbashi.

In the evening in Osaka, you could walk down Ota Road and have girls in maid / schoolgirl uniforms call out to you and promote their maid cafes tongue.gif

You could also go up the Umeda sky building to the observatory and get a night view of the city.

every card will have the handling fee, so everytime u return the card to collect back the deposit for each card, a portion of the deposit will not be refundable. I think its 220yen handling fee per card.

The service charge is only deducted from the remaining credit in the card. So you will always get back at least 500yen when refunding.

what if the remaining credit is less than the handling fee?
*
Then you only get back the 500 yen deposit.

😱 meaning its best if can fully utilise the credit and don't over-reload so that won't get charged with handling fee?
*
Yeah haha. That's what I did in 2015. Got the regular ICOCA back then and used it up to minimise the handling charge. This time round I bought the Astroboy ICOCA so I kept the card.

Nice. Thanks for the information!

If you're going to do a counter check-in, please go to the airport earlier.

If you're flying economy, why not just check-in online? That way you get to pick / re-pick your seats before it fills up.

Be sure to check the expiry dates first. I neglected to do so one time and ended up with some snacks with short expiry and some spoiled.
