guys i have a concern here,

example i check-out this hotel in umeda for another hotel in kyoto, after few days later back from kyoto,i will be staying hotel in namba.

so my question is are we allowed to put our luggage at hotel umeda before depart to kyoto? because it's abit hassle to carry luggage around.
*
i think better you email your umeda hotel to check ASAP, if not you need to bring them along or keep them in lockers for days

Anyone withdrew money via atm in japan? I tried the one in Lawson stores and they did show about 106 yen for every 10k yen withdraw but I am unaware of the additional charges by our local counterparty here. Im using maybank.

Thanks for quick replies!

planning to land at kansai for the cherry blossom, looking at last week of march to early april. AA price is at 1.6k+ while MAS is close to 2k now..

Can any1 share (based on experience) if MAS would be having any promo/sales/year end sales? Understand that some airline do have recurring sales each year at similar periods.

Or would the promo/sales entitle to this peak period? If that's the case there is no point for me to wait for any promo to come?

Not too sure about KL-Osaka flight rates

But back in Jan, I managed to book KL-Tokyo for early April 2018 travel at around RM1.7k/pax. It's ANA btw.

Maybe can consider play around with your travel itinerary such as fly-in Osaka, fly-out Tokyo if you are planning a lot of days in Japan (>10 days)
*
1.7k is very ok price, but it sounds abit risky for me to book at such late period as i need to book for 7 pax

did you only look for accommodation after you secure your flights? understand that booking accommodation could be difficult if you don't prebook early during that peak period..

thanks for the recommendation, actually my itinerary still in very preliminary stage..been to kansai for 2 times and thinking if I should try Tokyo this time

RM1087, if plus add on RM133 package each way
total is 1087 + 133 + 133 = RM1353
price will increase any minute....

cherry blossom is high season, if low season Airasia can get in RM600+

Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately I am looking to return in early april and that would make the fares to 1.6k+ cry.gif

KL-Tokyo rates should be better for us Malaysian because there are other options beside AirAsia and MAS.

I booked my Airbnb and hotel accommodation some time around mid to end-Jan. Can still easily secure bookings and most come with free cancellations. The only issue is I can't get ANY hotels (regardless of prices) for 14-15 April for the Takayama Spring festival. Totally flat out fully-booked.

What you can do is booked your hotels early with free cancellation. Then if you see better deals or your preferred hotel suddenly have rooms available, you can just booked the new 1 and cancel the old 1  biggrin.gif

It's not uncommon for ryokan or smaller hotels to make their room listing available only 3-6 months earlier before.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have just check and it costs about 1.8k from Kul - Kix and Narita to Kul via MAS which i think is quite ok..not sure if they will be any more sales in coming months hmm.gif hmm.gif
I have not been to Japan during cherry blossom, would you recognise period between 23 march to 3 april is a good period for that? i have looked at the forecast and it seems that 2019 sakura kicks in last week of march onwards for this region.
Also thinking if i should go from osaka up to tokyo or the other way round hmm.gif also looking if there is any suitable travel pass that would be worthy..from klook most passes are like 5-7 days but my travel period would be >10 days

23 March to 3 April is very safe, unless weather is totally out of whacked  biggrin.gif My travel period this year was 5-17 Apr. Sakura wasn't my main focus, but I'm still a bit sour because this year it bloomed 1 week early (despite Jan-Feb winter being the coldest in recent years..?  rclxub.gif ). If not, I would have enjoyed full bloom in Tokyo and Kanazawa. Consolation prize is Takayama reached full bloom when I was there.

Generally, if you are travelling one-way between Osaka-Tokyo, you don't really need Japan Rail pass. The only ok pass is the Hokuriku Arch Pass, provided you intends to visit that region.

Anyway, back to your original question about flight tickets. Your MAS KUL-KIX flight is around RM2k. Although KL-KIX + NRT-KL is 1.8k, do remember you need to spend around RM500 to bring you from Kansai to Tokyo (assuming taking Shinkansen). So total cost is RM2.3K - additional RM300 for the flexibility

My point is - if you originally just plan to visit Kansai, then why not stick to it and just pay the RM2k fare? You might feel the fare is a bit expensive, but you don't need to spend extra cost (especially you want to keep it within certain budget)

Alternatively, you can just concentrate on Tokyo completely since you already been in Kansai 2x? KUL-Tokyo, you can get RM1.7k return with ANA for sure

EDIT
Also another point to highlight is - maybe your MAS flight is expensive because of your 23 March (Sat) KL departure date? Try getting other dates and maybe you can have cheaper prices
*
yeah thanks for your inputs...have decided to stay just within kansai area. planning to land at 22nd and return on 1st april, hopefully will be able to capture the sakura blossom thumbup.gif

this would be my 3rd time visiting the like of osaka, kyoto, nara where i have gone to most of the "tourist" spot, but i will still visit some of the places to bring my family and parents around, but would appreciate if someone could provide some idea on where to visit. i will be staying mainly in kyoto and osaka, thinking to do day trip to kobe too.

Hi Guys, planning to go Japan soon, is Airbnb still relevant as the accommodation? Heard Japan is banning Airbnb now, any good alternative for cheap place to stay?
*
i will be going next year but i ald book via airbnb. i believe as long as they are licensed it should be fine?

the listings will state that it is licensed and some host even request to have a copy of your passport when you check in. I heard it is proper procedure just like hotel requesting the same

Well i have the same number of days as yours, but plan take bus to Takayama (2 nights) and Toyama (2 nights).
*
I have already book my accommodation where my base would be in Kyoto and Osaka for 5 nights each. So far I feel that i have about an extra day each in both cities and thinking if I could visit somewhere else.
