Just came back yesterday from a 2.5 weeks solo trip to Tohoku. The autumn foliage was amazing. The places in Tohoku region were so peaceful and scenic.

Pics below taken at Tsutanuma, purposely wake up at 3.30am and drive in the dark to witness this amazing sunrise scenery, they call it the 蔦沼 朝燒 aka The Morning Burning of Tsutanuma.

This beautiful place often appears in commercials and nature programs on TV. The first and the second photos show the scenery early in the morning. The surface of the mountains is illuminated in a burning red color from the morning sun. This scenery can only be seen for a moment when the sunshine in the morning behind the mountains comes up and lights up the red leaves and trees. When the sun goes high, the color gradually changes to yellow or a pale red.

Amazing !

You'll have to check carefully whether their bath is really natural spring water or just hot water  biggrin.gif , especially those in Takayama town. And don't expect the price to be cheap..

Alternatively, on the way to Shin-Hotaka ropeway, there are a lot of onsen resorts which you could opt for a night stay. There are also day-use baths open to the public

I stayed in Hodakaso Sanganoyu last time (nearby Hirayu Onsen bus-stop). RM700/night with half-boards for 2 ppl.
*
It can be as cheap as free. Those public onsen. Only japanese know where it located.

Free? really? I thought local still have to pay a little bit of money to take bath.
*
Yes. it is free. My experience.

If you want to buy the towel, than pay.

I think.... I am fine..... with naked. Just that my mindset must be set it right.  laugh.gif Not sure whether there is such onsen privately outside with my and my wife together or not. But I believe it will not be cheap, because it's "private"
Outskirt small onsen have a family room type onsen.

And even male/female same pool outdoor onsen with divider only. My experience. brows.gif

Been know some time.

It is some windy road uphill and downhill. Just like genting. There is 1 stress of road that even have music rhythm when drive over at a constant speed.

You can stop some view point scenery. It lead to a some resort town famous with onsen.

Next week will go over there once more.

I find this very very interesting.
Me and my whole family thought we were hearing things when we left Kawaguchiko back to Tokyo and there was a stretch of road that had something like a farewell music coming out from it.
Bloody impressive!
*
It is actually make of some thick paint strip on the road. With carefully space the paint strip, and width of the strip, it create some different tune when the tyre run over it.

Before reach that particular road, a sign board beside will tell you to drive at what speed in order to hear the rhythm.

I guess you experience driving here before when go through some slow down corner with yellow paint strip on the road.

recently just booked AA to Tokyo. departure from KL 2.40pm and reach tokyo at 1030pm. wondering if i book accommodation at Tokyo city is there any bus or train?
*
You're comeout at about 11pm. Plenty of time for train and bus.

Do not waste your time and straight go to the bus counter at the left or take train left (monorail) or right (keiyu line).

Probably those who had been to Tokyo in July can share their experience. Friend was in Kyoto 2 years ago in July and she said no more, never again.

I was in Tokyo in September and it was still really hot. Imo the sun is blazing hot over there. In Malaysia we barely move around with public transportation or do long walks outdoor for sight seeing. We drive from Point A to B and find the nearest parking. Then we hide in shopping malls to escape the heat.

But if you're in Japan during summer it's a different story... have to remember need to bear with the heat as you look for the Hotel/ AirBnB upon arrival, tough out the crowd in the heat, sight seeing done under the hot sun (for temples, outdoor activities etc). And places with A/C will be more crowded than usual too.

As long as the expectation is managed among those travelling, that's okay. Otherwise friends who tagged along not knowing how bad the heat is going to hit them, will be complaining from Day 1 to Day 7; that's the last thing anyone ever need.
Beautiful photos smile.gif its definitely one of the joy travelling outdoor / during autumn!

Kyoto is south of Tokyo. Of course the summer is start early than Tokyo. Same as winter. Where Kyoto is start later.

Every yrs or every 4yrs, weather will slightly change. Early or later. More hot than last yrs or less hot. For example,
last yrs is less cold but hotter.

So if you want less heat but summer in Tokyo, than try middle or end of sept. Or early October. Hot in Tokyo is very hot due to no crowd and low humid. Sun will be direct on you. Compare our local, hot and humid.

Nov or dec is between 9-20c in Tokyo. But 1c or 9c further away. Some area around mountain is already snow.

I experience extreme hot before. And extreme cold too. Depend what activity or where I go, will choose the good month. Generally, I won't care much as I will prepare for it.

Still in Tokyo here and check weather everyday for tomorrow what to wear and prepare.

Alway use number celcius to know exactly what is comfort and not for you. Specially when outdoor in forest. If not, your life at risk.

During my study in Japan, i stay in guesthouse(ryokan) near ski resort during winter.
The owner always prepare breakfast and dinner for guests.
From my observation, Japanese tends to bath before dinner.
Therefore we (Malaysian who uncomfortable to see other people's private item) eat dinner first and then later go to bath (onsen).
One hour before closing time is the best time.

Just sharing my experience with you guys.
*
Why people not just experience the naked ? You don't need to see their private part.

And it is not everyday you can experience it. They won't rape you too. biggrin.gif

Guys, need some advice. Can we use our Malaysian Credit Card to purchase Disneyland Tokyo tickets through the official Disney Tokyo website ? No matter what credit card i use, it seems to say "credit card no authorize".
*
Can your CC shop online ?

You can buy the Disney ticket from family mart that have the green machine. Ask help from the cashier.
