Anyone ever made a day trip to Lake Kawaguchiko??
Use tour or self-travel better... I research myself need to take train from Shinjuku to Otsuki to Kawaguchiko... will this be troublesome? |

QUOTE(wkwong91 @ Mar 14 2018, 02:31 PM) On your Lake Kawaguchiko trip, what bus are you taking??https://highway-buses.jp/course/kawaguchiko-onedaytrip.php You could actually take a bus to ShimoYoshida bus stop then walk to Chureito Pagoda, then take the train to Kawaguchiko Station later.. I have not gone yet, but this is what I plan to.. |

Hi guys, if I have the JR pass already, for the shinkansen trip from Tokyo to Kyoto and back, should I buy beforehand the tickets? Or I can just buy on the spot...?
I will be using it early to mid April |

QUOTE(morningmorning @ Apr 11 2018, 11:42 PM) Hi guys. Hi, I am just back from Japan trip.Anyone has any experience taking buses from akihabara station? Im planning to book for a trip to kawaguchiko (fuji) from akihabara using willer travel service. Thanks! http://willerexpress.com/dy/3/bus/pc/binLi...9&kkf=1&lang=en I use a bus from Tokyo station to Lake Kawaguchiko using https://japanbusonline.com/en/CourseSearch/11500410001 Actually I stay at Akihabara, it's just 2 subway station away from Tokyo station QUOTE(vreis @ Apr 15 2018, 10:55 PM) Hi all, been doing some researches and came up with the itinerary. First time going Japan, will be going in group of 5 incld 1 elderly and 2 children 7 & 5yo. Please comment whether its workable or need to refine. Btw will be staying in Shinjuku, also any recommended airport transfer as not convenient to explore with an elderly & 2 kids in tow as my flight reaches Haneda 10.30pm on Tue. Hi, I brought 2 little kids to Tokyo. I will advise you to cut down on your places of interest and then spend quality time on those places. After all, you are enjoying the trip with your family right? Dragging 2 kids rushing here and there is very tiring especially if you have an elderly...» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « : Meals we're not particular mostly will try those recommended food. Also any particular izakaya street that recoomended? Another thing I tell you, is do not FIXED your itinerary date. Instead arrange your itinerary based on the weather. What I do for my trip is I arranged based on "Sunny day" for all the outdoor places (parks, gardens, etc) and "Cloudy/Rainy day" for the indoor places. I am very flexible with my itinerary, I even skipped my Hakone trip because I couldn't arrange a good day for the trip, I then supplement it with some backup place of interest |

QUOTE(morningmorning @ Apr 17 2018, 08:07 AM) thanks for the reply. when you were at tokyo station, was it difficult to find the bus that you have to board? Was everything manageable? any apparent problem one might have to face when trying to board a bus there? No no problem at all, just ask the bus guy with uniform, they will tell uQUOTE(domo_kun @ Apr 17 2018, 08:21 AM) I had a close call 2 years ago. I didn't realize I'm supposed to book the tickets in advanced. I was ignorant, my fault. Yes actually I book in advance tickets for 2 different days. Then I check the weather a few days before the trip and cancel the other ticket...When I got at the station, all tickets sold out. I was put on hold, awaiting for other passengers whom may FFK. Luckily, there was one FFK, and I managed to get a ticket, then. Otherwise, I would have to wait for the next bus, which still, I'll be in the waiting list. The moment I step out from the bus in Kawaguchiko, I headed straight to the counter and purchased a ticket back to Tokyo. A self reminder, though, always book tickets in advanced. |

Wanna thanks the thread for helping in my Japan itinerary
Had a wonderful time, and I want to share some pics DSC_0290 by fun_feng, on FlickrTaken at Chidorigafuchi, the sakura petals have almost dropped finish by this time, but still offered quite a nice color when taken from afar DSC_0847 by fun_feng, on FlickrTaken around 10 something in the morning.. It's actually quite misty to see Mt Fuji (I have to edit the picture heavily to reveal Mt Fuji)... For anyone trying to do a one day trip to Lake Kawaguchiko, I would suggest u better do it during winter, where the air is colder so there will be less mist. If you are like me trying to get Chureito Pagoda, sakura and Mt Fuji in one shot, I suggest you stay overnight and get to the pagoda early in the morning where there is less mist DSC_0836 by fun_feng, on FlickrAnother view of Chureito Pagoda DSC_0751 by fun_feng, on FlickrTaken from World Trade Centre... Actually it is also quite misty at this time!! DSC_0516 by fun_feng, on FlickrShinjuku Gyoen National Garden... while the other place has no more sakura.. I'm glad this garden still have around 30 ~40% sakura... Overall, I have planned sunny days for all my outdoor activities, but the mist is a real bummer ... See more in my flickr. Thanks! |

QUOTE(sweet_pez @ Apr 27 2018, 09:35 AM) Wow you took those photos? They are very nice. You can even sell them online Yes because sakura bloomed unexpectedly early (tourist wouldn't be able to know), thus those who went last 1-2 weeks don't get to see the full bloom. It's okay, you still get to see them at least. If i would rate the sakura viewing places, Shinjuku Gyoen garden will be first, because it has a big field in the middle, surrounded by sakura.. Ueno park has just a wide street and sakura lined up beside it, very crowded and hard to get a good shot. Chidorigafuchi offers a unique view of river and sakura, but not much chance of taking sakura picture up close. |
