Hello all,
I'm planning for my first solo trip to Osaka this November. I'm contemplating between 5 days or 8 days over there. I think 5 days should be more than enough for my itenary, but I'm not sure if I should extend my area of visit. Do you have any suggestions?

Here's my incomplete itenary:
1. Osaka Castle
2. Nipponbashi
3. Kuromon Ichiban Fish Market
4. Hozenji Temple
5. Dotonbori Lane
6. Laox Daimaru
7. Osaka Aquarium and around the area
8. Mino Park
9. Katsuo Temple
10. Hoshida Park (Hanging bridge)
11. Osaka Masjid

Food places:
1. Ayam Ya Namba
2. Nikubaru & Sukiyaki
3. Naritaya
4. Matsuri

Goal of the trip is maybe to just run away from my work, have some good foods.

Sorry if I violate any rules here with this posting, I'm still researching around.

huh ??

mind sharing the CIMB offer screenshot here ?
*
Here’s the offer. When I checked, still expensive compared to AirAsia by ~2k

On an unrelated question, current AirBnB places won’t cancel reservations for future dates right? I’m still looking around for accommodations for November trip.

you have to check out only can know the discounted price ?

Was there any other way to check? Sorry, I rarely book flight tickets so I’m really not sure. What I did was selecting the ticket on same dates, and just looking at the checkout price.

did you try entering your cimb cc details and check the total payment (before confirm) ?
*
Is this the final price or the final price will come on the page after this? Scared to click next because don't want to double book.

Has anyone have stayed in hot spring hotels around Osaka/Kyoto/Nara area before? Initially I wanted to go to Kurama Onsen (in Kyoto), but they doesn't seem to have private onsen. (Thinking of wanting my mum to try the onsen as well)

Can you PM me as well? When you said about this now only I thought eh my flight also lands at 9.40pm in KIX. I've already booked a place in Osaka (Charinco Hostel) for a night and I thought there will be hourly train to Osaka (I might read that wrongly).

Also, do I need to change all my money here before travel to Japan? I might spend quite a lot there so thinking need a lot of cash

Guys, for USS osaka, I am thinking to buy both the ticket and express pass at Klook.

Anyone use that before? Is it reliable?

Or are there any way to get the USS express ticket earlier before I go into Japan?
*
I know USJ normal ticket can be bought through Japan Travel Bureau (JTB). Will have extra RM30 charge for each transaction. Last two days I went and check for the express pass, they said that express allocation are only up to November 4th. Not sure if USJ have open the express pass allocation for November today.

But are express pass worth it? My friend said no need express pass, because while waiting you'll still be entertained along the waiting line. I'm still considering to buy it or not tongue.gif

Hello,
Below is my messy incomplete itinerary. Can anyone comment if any of the items can be improved. Also I got a few questions:
1. I've read that Sagano Romantic train tickets can only be purchased in Kyoto on the day itself. True, or can I buy a day earlier? (scared ticket finish)
2. Is it better to rent kimono at west Kyoto (during bamboo groove trip) or east Kyoto (maybe around Gion)? (to get the "feel" more)
3. I'm looking at an Yuzanso onsen, and the only online booking left is at http://japantraveleronline.com. Is this site legit? Or is there any recommendation for other place?

Thank you smile.gif

1. You can purchase online (via Klook) and pick up the ticket at KIX or OSAKA. But if you want to experience Unique Open Air Coach "The Rich" (Coach No.5) which is the best, tickets are only available as a same-day ticket in Sagano-line Station booth. You need to specifically tell the staff you want Coach Number 5, otherwise, they will give you normal coach which is windowed. Suggest you do the Sagano Train in the morning from Kameoka torokko station backward to Arashiyama torokko station. Take JR line to Umahori Station, then walk to Kameoka torokko Station. Be there 30 minutes or earlier to secure the ticket. The ticket counter open 8.50am at Kameoka torokko station and depend on the crowd in the station, if like 20++people already queue up, they will open 5-10 minutes more earlier to ease up the crowd.

2. Gion area. Gion area got more beautiful scenery to take photo, all the way from Gion to Kiyomizu Temple.

3. Not sure, but I booked my hotel room at https://www.japanican.com/en/ Found out this site very good, because last time sakura season most of the room was fully book at agoda, but i search at japanica still have some rooms left on same hotel, same date and more cheaper!

620Yen Adult. 310Yen Child. Yes, was enjoying the scenic route all the way.
Yes, less crowd compare to Saga. Well, is personal preference. But for me, the main reason is you don't need to take the Sagano Train ride twice from Saga to Kameoka torokko and return again. Take the first ride in the morning, enjoy the fresh air along the route, chilling weather until you reach Arashiyama and walk through the bamboo grove >Tenryuji Temple > Togetsukyo Bridge and have your brunch around that area, then take the Randen Arashiyama train back to city central.
*
Noted with thanks. I thought only can go from Arashiyama to Kameoka, thank god you tell me this beforehand. smile.gif

We have to get vaccines beforehand? Oh no, I never knew about this. Can I go to any private clinic and get the vaccines? What do I need to say to the doctor?

Last year i thought jp food very expensive. But just mid-range and affordable especially at convenient store.

Brought canned food like sardin, beans etc no problem. End of the day still can't resist the japanese cuisine =p, end up throwing most of the food i bring from msia.

They inspect the rice i bring tho, had to fill up a form and was allowed to bring in.

IMO, not worth the hassle to bring food to JP, taste the food there. Things in Super market not expensive too.

Scandinavia countries then different story.

Is it? My only concern is to find halal foods there, my group wants to bring lots of roti gardenia over there biggrin.gif

I actually wanna ask, what other things can I do if my travel member gets sick during the trip? We have tried for medications from pharmacy but it doesn’t works.

Anyway it’s my day 4 here in Kansai. Morning so cold in Nara, Osaka is a bit warmer (maybe because in middle of city, or maybe I woke up very late tongue.gif) Weather have been ever so lovely since Monday.

U dont have travel insurance?
Its 16C in osaka right?
*
I do have travel insurance, but scared it doesn’t cover. Asked my agent he only gave safe answers, saying accidents claim and travel company will decide if can reimburse or not.

Not sure about osaka, feels like Genting cold. Nara this morning is about 11C.

How is the weather in Tokyo/Osaka now? Cold or just nice without jacket/autumn clothes?
*
Osaka is about like Genting's weather, I can walk around in city at night without jacket. But different people different cold tolerance. Light jacket should be enough.

Guys I have question on getting the right train pass. I'll be visiting Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara and going to Shirakawago as well. I read that there's this pass called JR West Kansai Hokuriku Area pass that can cover all these. Is it worth getting this pass, or should I get a cheaper pass that only covers Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and Nara, and buy separate train ticket to Kanazawa (and then bus to Shirakawago)? Or are there other options?

I will be there for 9 days. My initial plan was to get the 7 days west kansai hokuriku pass and then get osaka amazing pass for the remaining 2 days as we will just be in osaka area that time. is this the best option in terms of cost?
*
Do take note that not all route can be used for Osaka Amazing 2 days pass, compared to 1 day pass
