QUOTE(heaven.33 @ Jan 29 2018, 09:23 PM) How about shopping malls/ stores? And also if I use my credit card (Citibank) in Japan, will there be extra charges? You can use credit card in shopping malls. Most of the time electronic stores like Bic Camera or yodobashi have discount of up to 8% if you use MasterCard or Visa- cannot remember which one. As for extra charges I dont think so. Maybe there is but you wont see it in your CC statement. Better to check with your bank. QUOTE(mugenz @ Jan 29 2018, 11:18 PM) Yo guys, i still planning my trip. I will arrive KIX - Osaka - Tokyo - Narita - Malaysia. It seems that flying from KIX to Narita seems more budget than using train. Flying is around RM400 for 2 pax while train for 2 pax one way is around RM900. Did i miss something. Those who stay at Airbnbs, how the overall cleanliness? Any hotels within RM200 budget to recommend for Tokyo? Thanks. Thats correct. There are lots of low cost carrier in Japan now, thats why the low cost. Also the train you are taking is a bullet train. Hence the price. If possible, try to find flight to Haneda instead as its much close to the city. As for hotel, you might be able to get some guesthouse or hostel with share toilet at that price. QUOTE(mugenz @ Jan 30 2018, 09:59 AM) Trying to finalize all the JR usage and see if it meets the 7days pass. 7 Days Nationwide Pass - RM1000 x 2 pax = RM2000 My initial plan:- 1. Use JR Kansai Wide pass (5 days) - RM321 x 2 = RM642 - with this pretty covers all transportation within Osaka - kyoto - Himeji - Kobe - Nara right? Most attractions recommended to be assessed via JR line. 2. Air tickets KIX to Narita x - RM155 x 2 = RM400 (Include baggage allowance and plus plus) 3. Tokyo Subway pass 72 hours pass - RM55 x 2 = RM110 (Do i need use JR line in tokyo city? subway pass would be sufficient?) 4. Extra for others airport transportation (go back KIX and from Narita)- RM200 Total = RM1352 vs RM2000 7 days pass which cant cover my whole trip as i will be there for 10days. Did i miss any thing out? You dont need the 7 days pass. Its only worth it if you take the shinkansend from Osaka-Tokyo-Osaka. As for Tokyo, I would suggest you just use suica or pasmo, unless you planned it very well that you only use Metro. QUOTE(mugenz @ Jan 30 2018, 10:01 AM) With RM200 budget for April season, probably to get Airbnb in Tokyo? 1 bed with toilet studio? No idea as I never used Airbnb before as I use to have my own apartment in Tokyo. This post has been edited by sacwoc: Jan 30 2018, 11:44 AM

QUOTE(midnightsunray @ Feb 1 2018, 09:59 AM) I was hoping Muji will be cheaper in Japan. Oh well. Thanks for the info on the locker dimensions! Go to Tokyu Hands in Shinjuku, and you have loads of luggage bag to chose....though will be a bit more expensive. If not you can go to Ginza chuo-dori that sells for 5000yen.

QUOTE(tohff7 @ Feb 5 2018, 12:20 PM) Just want to ask if anybody might have experience before. Will Uniqlo in Japan still sell limited stock of down jacket around early April? I already got Heattech products but I feel I still need down jacket when going up mountain in Shinotaka Ropeway and Kurobe Alpine Route. Last time when i was there 2 years ago, they still sell Heattech products but I can't recall if they still selling down jackets Different stores might have different stocks. The biggest one is in Ginza. You might go there and check it out. If not check online to see if they still sells it.

QUOTE(5p3ak @ Feb 27 2018, 11:15 AM) How hot is too hot based on your personal experience? Will it be warmer than summer in Dubai? 42+ C Wiki pedia says record high is 39+ C Its not only the temperature but the humidity. Its really hot and humid. Once you step out of an air cond place, you can really feel it. QUOTE(pwf @ Feb 27 2018, 05:17 PM) Which to book to Tokyo, Cathay Pacific or MAS? Both almost same price, Cathay is about RM100 cheaper than Mas but stopover at HK (just for 1-1/2 hour). Which is better plane to take? I heard MAS lately service quite bad. I took Cathay to HK before and their service is good. Even though its a short stopover, you have to take into consideration of coming out of the plane, pass security again and then board another plane. And I think total hours will be at least 2-3 hours longer. So you have to weigh which is more important and what service are you expecting....

QUOTE(midnightsunray @ Feb 28 2018, 12:03 AM) Konbanwa minnasan, I don't know if this is the right thread to post in. Mods, I leave it up to you to remove or relocate this post. Anyway, I'm going to Tokyo in April and I have booked the Airbnb accommodation in Shinjuku. The address was in Japanese so I asked for the English version. When I typed the English address in Google Maps I couldn't get the directions from Shinjuku Station. All I got was 'unnamed roads' which is flabbergasting because I've gone to Japan many times and Google Maps is my Bible to get around. I don't know if it's my browser or if it's a technical error but I tried it for a couple of days. Anyone faced similar situations before? I want to ask my host but I think it's not really her fault if Google Maps can't show me directions to the accommodation. If you dont want to share the address, try typing in the Japanese version into google map and see if you get the same route. Google maps work with Japanese input as well.

QUOTE(~mingwei~ @ Mar 9 2018, 10:13 AM) Hi, I already got 2 flight tickets to Tokyo this August with Japan Airlines, but now I and my wife decide to bring our 2 year old daughter along. Called up Japan Airlines and they said I got 2 option, one is buy the child ticket from them by the phone, means that I have to provide my CC detail and another option is go all the way to KLIA Japan Airline counter. Anyone of you experience this before? need your advise and oppinion. Thank you Normally if you travel with a kid that young, you need to have an adult as a companion. I dont think their online website cater to your situation as you are only buying 1 ticket for your kid. So its better to do as they say. Try also request for a bassinet seat as there are more leg room. Normally if your kid is below 2 years old, you dont buy a seat and it will be cheaper. But she is 2, then most probably you need one.

QUOTE(ragk @ Mar 11 2018, 03:10 PM) Hi, Im checking on the transport from the Tokyo Airport to the city in late night. By far as i know the last train from airport will be 12.01/12.02 am, but as backup plan i need to consider if my flight was delayed. Anyone know how much it cost for taxi from Tokyo Airport to City center? There are two airport in Tokyo. I presume you are talking about Haneda right? If yes taxi can cost you about 10K-15K depending where your city center is. Tokyo is big. If you are landing in Narita, expect at least double. There are some mid night buses from the airport though but depending on your definition of city center.

QUOTE(elvatra @ Mar 15 2018, 10:52 AM) Hi Guys, I'm planning my second trip to Japan. previously i have visit Osaka and Kyoto with my wife. Now we plan to visit Tokyo with our infant which is 1 year old when then time we travel. will be on Novemeber 2018. we are planning to take MAS Airlines. understand that we can carry 1 bag just for babbies stuff without additional charges. however my concern are how much milk powder we can carry on board the plane? i have go through the FAQ and i dun find any related to this. You can carry as much milk powder as you want. Its not anything that is prohibited. What you need to think of is water. You can ask for hot water from the plane but then you will read articles claiming that water in the plane are not really clean. You can actually put hot water in a flask and bring it to the plane. I have tried in HK and Tokyo airport without any issue when I go through security check since I have a small kid. As for milk, you can a case that is sold in Jusco where you can separate the how many feedings you want. THe one I have have 4 compartments for each bottle.

QUOTE(midnightsunray @ Mar 31 2018, 02:21 PM) Hey guys! I'm heading to Tokyo on Monday. My return flight is about 10AM. The Airbnb I'm staying is at Shinjuku. I'm planning to take the train to Tokyo Station then board Access Narita bus to Narita Airport. Based on your experience, what time is best to leave the Airbnb to the train station? How long does it take from Tokyo Station to Narita airport using Access Narita bus? I would suggest a little bit earlier, at least 6;30AM to leave your Airbnb. I used to take AccessNarita and it takes about an hour. Normally early in the morning there will be a long queue though I think there are buses every 15minutes. You can also booked via internet but its all in Japanese.

QUOTE(z|nk @ Jun 14 2018, 07:55 PM) Thanks for the reply . Mind to share which outlet ? As for hokkaido , I'm still thinking because I can't find any budget airline with affordable prices . Able to find max around 600 per pax ? Vanilla air and peach air both prices only until October. Probably will stay nearby new chitose airport ? I'm going mid of Nov btw . https://mitsui-shopping-park.com/mop/kisarazu/english/. You can get a bus from Tokyo station which takes about 45 mins. Last bus I think is 11:30am. Besides Tokyo station there are also a few places where you can hop on the bus. Check the web page.

QUOTE(iXora.ix @ Jul 2 2018, 09:59 AM) Hai all. Wanted to share my experience to Japan (Kyoto Osaka 23-29 June) I just want to share my first time using airbnb at japan and yes, the new regulation makes me to rebook 3 times airbnb (2 times in kyoto and 1 time in osaka) First, airbnb send email to me 1 week before departure saying my listing at osaka was cancelled due to no license. Already contact owner but he said airbnb was strict (and found out owner last minutes apply license) Second, 23/6 depart to japan, 22/6 airbnb once again cancel my listing althought the host mention he got license(at description) Both cancellation, airbnb provide full refund and also coupon equivalent to full refund and experience coupon worth 100usd. Since cancallation, I manage to secure properly 1 hour after airbnb send notice. Sad thing, the property I book is far away from my 1st choice plan (wanted to stay at dontobori but end up stay nearby imazato station) Just curious, why you still want to booked Airbnb after all the cancellation? Would limited time, I would have thought you would book a normal hotel. As mention, just curious...
