It's fine to buy from the station. My memory is really failing me but if I'm right, you can only buy ticket (from Kawaguchiko back to Tokyo) one day ahead. Meaning, if you're going back to Tokyo on Wednesday, the earliest you can queue and buy is on Tuesday.

My guess would be the bus will go to this route Shinjuku - Fujigoko・Mt. Fuji 5th Station Line, but it stop at Kawaguchiko Station stop.
But I still not buy yet, coz not sure which time to choose for return ticket.
Should I come back to Shinjuku early noon or late evening, coz my flight return to KL is 11pm.
Either way, I need to stroll around to pass the time.
