I am Switch newbie. Not sure if this question has been raised but allow me to check here.

I noticed there are seller selling Digital games version (e.g. https://www.lelong.com.my/digtial-nintendo-...m?list_type=bs)

Is this safe? What's the Pro and Cons? The price is attractive.

I feel there's an issue.

You pay them, but you need to create a new username (which is fine by me), but insert email and password from them?

Two things pop up.
Either they'll keep a copy of email and pass (which is weird either way), so your further purchases from them can be done smoother in the future (but they still know your email and pass), to take advantage of certain pricing from certain regions.

OR

They're selling, or reselling access to a particular email (user) and pass, and therefore your Switch is essentially THEIRS (because your switch is tied to that account, and not that account tied to your switch)

It sounds and looks fishy to me. But i'm a new Switch owner, so what do I know?

My advice , don't ever buy from these merchant . I remember there are people who offer games rental service on lowyat. If you absolutely are tight on money you can rent these games or buy the second-hand copy.

These digital sellers are basically a bunch of cheapo and fishy bas****, some of them are probably buying games using fishy credit cards . When they get banned , your account will go down with them and all your games will be lost.

Not that it hasn't happened before. There were a bunch of cases on popular sites like Lazada/11streets , where these digital games merchants eventually got banned by Sony/Nintendo , and they will remove any negative comments you left on their product pages.


P/S : Same goes for those steam merchant seller , was looking to buy from them until I heard they actually wanted my accnt and password for the reason of " reloading " games onto my account

Definitely avoid them.
Digital games usually come in the form of a card/code.
Which you can enter in the eshop and claim.

Very likely these people are using stolen cards.
One account can only be tied to one switch.
So they can't even share this with more than a single switch.

I bought one. They use a unique email to buy the game for you. This email can only be tied to one account. And you can change the email password. Most likely the email account is from some company in China. Nothing to be alarmed of as long as you don't link this account and email to your credit card.

so how about 2nd purchase? Another account? Or still the same account, since they have access to the password.

Its still risky, isn't it?

When I bought the game, the seller asked whether I wanted to add more games under the same email address. So I guess when you want to buy another game next time, it will be under a different email address. This email address is then associated with your Nintendo account. Your password for Nintendo account is only yours to know. Once the email address has been associated with your Nintendo account, it cannot be used for other Nintendo account.

It is still risky . Because the original account owner who created the email , does not necessarily require the password in order to reclaim your email account .

They will only have to lodge a report to email service support to check the IP when the account registration happened , which should rightfully belong to the merchant.
They can reclaim the account rather easily and deemed you as an intruder / hacker of their email . I have reclaimed googles accounts and my yahoo accounts via the same method before this.

Regardless this is still risky and if the discount is worth the risk , that is something only you can answer

Credit card is one issue. What bout the possibility of your Switch being banned like the 3DS fiasco.

those digital games are funded by stolen CCs.

effectively you're buying stolen goods.

so, avoid at all cost.

they dont use stolen CC, but mostly purchased nintendo cash cards from stolen / cheated amazon accounts with CC attached.

there is a term that cash cards purchase cannot be refunded or exchanged, so most cash cards purchases are final.

hence, these cannot be revoked. its safe for consumer, but unethical since the source of the fund is from victim.

Like that ka? Ok. Thank god I only bought 1 game. It is not that cheap anyways. Only slightly cheaper.
