Hi, was thinking of getting a car. I'm 20 working full time. I do not want to have guarantor for certain reasons. Is there a way around it looking to buy second hand car.

QUOTE(momusu @ Dec 22 2017, 07:56 PM) can, my mom was 59y.o when she applied for car loan. no extra huge deposit either. that was from eon bank around year 2006. never had any accounts from that bank either. Times have changed, my friend. Banks are extremely way more stringent now. I mean it. Just got my loan approved, I'm 23, only managed to get 70% loan. I applied for three different cars at three drastically different prices, all also only get 70%.

Do you have other loans? Are your confirmed at your current job with at least 6 months payslip? Is the monthly installments less than 30% of your mobthly salary? Do you have a good credit history (loans or credit card with good repayment record)?
If yes to all the above, you shouldn't a guarantor even if you are young.

my brother in law once wanted to buy a car, but he need to have a guarantor. So, he went to other salesman who said, he can help, got cable with bank, bla bla bla.. And finally, he manage to buy a car without guarantor..

it depends on your income. normally banks will need you to nominate a guarantor if your salary or inĉome is barely enough to pay the loan.

Since i don't have my own car (borrowed bro's car), what do banks looks for if i want to buy small new cars like axia?
Just my bank balance since i work on my own? Any other finer things they will be looking into?
