There are lots of details and information printed on the box.
So no need to google on what this router was built for unless you want something more
deep.

The router.

From outside it appearance as one of top contenders for wi-fi router league.
With it super long and strong look antennas which give it a warrior looks.

At the right bottom in front there is an sub 3.0 port for your medias sharing.
As you can see they lift the bottom part of the router quite high with the rubber feet stands for a better air ventilation.

I addition of that there is an usb 2.0 port at the back along side with 4 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and the 1 Gigabit WAN port.
Following the WAN port are a pin-hole reset, WPS and Wi-Fi buttons. Next to it are the power connector port/hole and a on-off power button.

As you see at the bottom of the router there are lots of ventilation holes to cool down the router and avoid it from overheating.
Well most common practice by us is to have a laptop cooler pad as an active cooling system since the router comes without any cooling fan.

We did some light test on the antennas and we found that the joints are quite strong.

Overview

So here is the boring part.
hundreds of words.

The Cores

The router is running with a dual core processor which is Mediateck MT 762IA dual core SoC @ 880mhz together with 128mb ram.

Multi-User MIMO

What is MU-MIMO.
MU-MIMO is a technology that allowing more connections on your wi-fi router without reduce it's performance to deliver you devices with sufficient bandwidth.
The more device connected to your wi-fi router the slower it will get. This happen because most routers can only communicate with one device at a time which called as SU-MIMO (single user).
So each device had to wait their turn to send and receive data from internet.

Multi-user * multiple-input multiple-output technology which is known as MU-MIMO allows more devices to connect and communicate with the router at the same time (simultaneously).
So no more 'queuing' for your turn.

QUOTE
"The AC2600 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router is designed to support MU-MIMO technology that allows multiple devices to get high-bandwidth Wi-Fi signal at the same time, distributing data more efficiently, giving you the fastest Wi-Fi speeds in your home. You can stream HD media faster, transfer large files in seconds and play lag-free gaming."

DLNA Support

This feature allows you to connect you usb storage device to the usb 2.0 and 3.0 ports on the router where you can access and share you media files such as music, movies and etc (Media Streaming and File Sharing).

Performance

QUOTE
*Traffic Prioritization – Advanced QoS engine guarantees the best performance for high priority programs, games and video streaming.
*Dual-Band Technology – Decreases wireless interference and congestion, allowing you to connect more devices.
*Band Steering – Automatically assigns devices to the less crowded 5 GHz network to increase bandwidth efficiency and availability.
*Advanced AC SmartBeam – Unique beamforming technology dramatically enhances wireless signal strength and range.

Security

L2TP Over IPSec VPN Server Support – Transmit data securely when connected remotely.

QUOTE
*Parental Controls – Create online access schedules and block/allow specific websites and/or devices.
*Guest Wi-Fi Network – Enable a public or encrypted wireless guest network to secure and control access to local network devices.
*Secure Wi-Fi Encryption – WPA/WPA2 provides highest level of
wireless security.

Management

QUOTE
*Easy To Install - Installation wizard manually walks you through setup
in minutes.
*Quick Router Setup (QRS) App - Easy setup app for smartphones & tablets.
*WPS Push Button Setup - Quickest method of connecting devices with the push of a button.
*Zero Configuration - Once router is setup, other D-Link Zero Configuration devices can easily and instantly connect.

Some Unwanted Test

We did some real time range test.
To see the farthest we can go before get ridiculous low speed or worst we lost the connection totally.

The wi-fi router are connected to Unifi 100Mbps from TM-Net.
Prior to the test we get around 60-70Mbps in the house.

So we decide to go outside and see how far it can go.
4 wireless device were connected.
QUOTE
Iphone 5s
Iphone SE
Samsung S7 Edge
Samsung Note FE

So this the speed we got.

Just outside the house (estimatedly around 20-30 feets away from the router).

Note FE

S7 Edge

We decided to go more so we walk to the other side of the road (estimatedly around 40 feets away.)

user posted image

We tried to go more farther which we estimated around 50-60 feets away.

So we managed to get 3.34Mbps for download and 9.13Mbps for upload.
As we mentioned this real time test and most probably not wanted and waste of time. LOL

Conclusion.

The price is a bit high and tagged at RM789.
However considering the features you get it is really worth to get one.
I addition they are having some Christmas sale promotion on it.
You can visit the link below for the promo offer.

https://goo.gl/LYocFY

Why should you get the router?

*With tonnes of features offered this router is among the best Wi-Fi router you can get in the market.
*Good ventilation to avoid the system from overheating.
*Long and wider range connections.
*Simple yet outstanding design

The downsides
*Price a bit high for us Malaysian.
*The ventilation holes at the bottom should be included with dust filter to prevent any bug or insect especially ant from entering.
