Which Lenovo Zuk model ? I think can return as long yours met the requirement for eligible to return.
*
Zuk z1. I read that it has to be sealed. No?

My worries now is after return will they refund my money or not. I read somewhere that it takes forever for refunds to be processed.

QUOTE(rhytion @ Dec 23 2017, 08:07 AM)
Maybe hardware defective. Lenovo ZUK Z2 you bought? I also bought one during 9.9 sale and it's working well for me so far.

Bro..i bought Redmi note 4x first. It came with the GPS problem. So i thought the phone lousy, and bought redmi note 4 this time. GPS also problem. After doing a search on the net, turns out its quite a common problem. so decided to not but any Mi phones after that.

I need GPS because i travel around quite a bit.

QUOTE(Moonknightz @ Dec 23 2017, 09:53 PM)
Which Telco you using?

My Redmi Note 4 GPS working fine
*
Hi bro. Im using U Mobile. And i can guarantee you its not umobile's problem. Because i have 2 Umobile numbers. The other Samsung phone that I have is also on U mobile and has absolutely zero issues with GPS.

My buddy on Umobile uses his Iphone without any issues too.

I'll tell you what, I was using my Redmi Note 4 msia set on maxis and GPS works perfect

When I change to celcom, the GPS issue started. The culprit was the APN that was auto set up wasn't correct, it was using 3G APN. When I go online search for celcom 4g APN and change it, all issues resolved. Shared with my colleague on his mi max also all GPS issue resolved.

In the redmi note 4 thread someone mentioned umobile also have the same problem not only celcom.
*
so u mean i should go search for umobile 4g apn and change to it?

sorry ya bro i not really tech savy but why is my gps on my samsung/iphone fine without requiring me to change any APN?

If I'm not mistaken the APN will auto setup/downloaded by the Telco Simcard when you first put in the simca Celcom and umobile probably never update the setting for xiaomi phones to use 4g apn. Hence all xiaomi phones are affected when using these Telcos unless you manually change the APN.

If xiaomi phones have such a big GPS issue, it would have been a huge news by now with total recal.
*
Funny thing is it only affects some people. When i brought it back to the shop for warranty. The lady told me quite a few returned the defective phones, and she cant sell them off.

So it means that, it somehow failed to communicate with the SUPL server, which stopped the speed up of GPS fix by using A-GPS on the LTE network, and difference smartphone has difference configuration, which may explain why GPS fix issues happen.

Ya, the APN might be the key for this LTE standard to obtain the A-GPS data, if my guess is right, but I am not the pro in this area, so you guys just test la. icon_idea.gif  nod.gif
The workaround should be connect to WiFi, or disable 4G or root and replace the gps.conf to change these server addresses, I guess...?
*
Completely confused at what you saying bro. I am old grandpa not tech savy.

Maybe can try this app 1st to reset A-GPS data , see if its works and share results with us smile.gif

Before resulting to return and refund. Zuk1 SOC considered so much better than those mid range Xiaomi.
*
Tried this app before on my redmi. Didnt work.

Zuk1 has no gps issues. Zuk 1 issue for me is bad reception. Cant call out or call in most of the time. Damn bad

Just simple, when you try to receive the GPS, you must know their location, just like your Astro dish that need point to the location of the Astro satellite.(as the signal is broken a bit when it reach your smartphone)

So your smartphone will need to download the information from the server to correct the signal, but in case your mobile network disallow you to download it, then you need 12.5 minutes to obtain the information from the GPS, which is the cause of sht long GPS fix.

But there is workaround, which is change the configuration of the GPS on your smartphone, tell him to download from other server, or you use your WiFi, or you change your APN which changed how's you connect to the mobile internet via other route, then problem solved.

Ok. I understand little bit now. So what i need to do now is to change my APN yes? Any other thing i should do or try?

For testing, download GPS Status & Toolbox, slide from the left, you will see "Manage A-GPS state", click on it, then click "Reset"  each time when you want to test to see how fast it take, for it to download the information then has the GPS fix.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...psstatus2&hl=en

You may also configure this toolkit to update the A-GPS each time when you use the GPS, but it will only do this when the cache is at least older than 1 hour.

Also Merry Christmas. smile.gif

I tried this resetting of A-gps on my note 4 and note 4x. Both didnt work. sad.gif . Any other solutions?

QUOTE(fxrdxxs @ Dec 25 2017, 08:13 AM)
That one need at least to reflash modem or use qpst tools.
Can search forum for blacktubi guide
That only LEA knows liao biggrin.gif
Already shared with him earlier lol he said not GPS problem but reception laugh.gif

Thanks for replying bro. But i think you confused. I got 3 phones.

Redmi Note 4x...gps problem, reception fine.
So i sold the note 4x and changed to redmi note 4. Also gps problem, reception fine.
So i thought must be xiaomi problem and changed to Zuk z1. The problem reversed for zuk z1...GPS fine, bad reception.

SIGH.

Dont know what to do now.

Prolly should have gotten a Samsung flagship device.. From my GS2 to GS3 to current GNote 3. Using stock or custom ROMs and Kernels.. No issues with GPS or Mobile reception under the normal conditions.. And even if it appeared, can be easily fixed. Such connection issues are usually either faulty hardware or incompatible baseband/modem with the firmware it's running. Don't know about the Zuk Z1, but if you were using a Samsung flagship device, I'd recommend that you flash a different modem and test or even a custom ROM if available and you are up to it.

Edit: No, not a Xiaomi problem.. Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3X using Celcom and Digi. GPS and mobile data are fine.
*
For me i think its a xiaomi problem. I used the same sim card on samsung, lenovo, apple. ...all no issues with GPS.

I actually like the xiaomi. Only problem is the GPS. Sigh. Other phones cant seem to match its specs/ performance at that price point.

QUOTE(rhytion @ Dec 25 2017, 10:04 AM)
You still have the Xiaomi now? Tried flashing with Xiaomi Flash tool? If not can try obtaining unlock permissions first from Xiaomi, then unlock and flash global stable fastboot ROM via the tool.

And for the ZUK Z1, you should also consider flashing via QPST as suggested by fxrdxxs since this will return the firmware files on the phone to its factory state. You can try messing around with different versions of QPST firmware available for the phone, and maybe either one of 5.1/6.0/7.0 could help fix the issue. If this method still doesn't work, just return the phone, clearly hardware issue.
*
Flashing again? Thats like resetting the phone, wiping all data right? Honestly bro, been changing phones and refreshing/resetting alot. Very tiring. Maybe after some time ill do it. Needa rest.

Made arrangements to return the Zuk z1 today. Hopefully theyll accept it and refund asap so that i have funds to buy smthg else. Sigh. I also find the lenovo platform? Or whatever u guys call it not very user friendly too. Xiaomi was quite similar to samsung so it was relatively easy to use.

How to upload photo a? Photobuket fked up. Just found out.

QUOTE(red4900 @ Dec 25 2017, 10:26 AM)
lol I thought I'm the only one with "bad" gps on xiaomi device. Not that it's bad per se, it's just worse than my other phone...

Seems like my Mi A1 is slower to get position on GPS than my Honor 5x. No idea why.

Since it still works (although slower than I expected it to), I'm not complaining much.

Mind sharing which network youre on? Im on Umob.
