Assuming 100% confirm is chain, please check if the rubber seals on the links in between the rollers are coming out/the chain is beginning to bind already

If yes, just change no need think.

In the event your chain fully binds especially in high speed, only 2 outcome:
Your chain snaps
And/or your Crankshaft snaps.
