Hello, I would like to buy a lens for event photography. Currently I'm owning 35mm 1.8G nikkon and 55-200mm nikon kit lens. I have been doing research by watching youtube reviews about Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 OS. Mostly are recommending this lens. But however, there are some reviewer and user of this lens complaining about its life span and the auto-focus motor. They say that this lens can't hold up more than 3 years and many cases the auto focus motor is not functioning. I would like to know if any of you using this lens or used to own it. Can please give me opinion about this lens? I really need a lens that can last long since my wallet is dry as ikan kering. Thank you

Thank you I dont own the 17-50mm, but based on my past experience with 2 older sigma lenses (10-20mm and 150mm), the AF motor seemed to hold up just fine. both lenses are easily more than 3 years old.

im using the same lens as what you have mentioned and what i can say is that it works great. it is just that there are certain times that you'll get wrong AF when taking group pics but it can be tolerated by using smaller apertures (if you cant tolerate mistakes) btw mine was nikon mount tho
