Wonder if it is worth getting this card just to spend MYR250 on dining and get MYR30 cashback each month. Any bros here going through the trouble?

To get the extra MYR30 cashback would require MYR3000 spending. Total 60 cashback on 3000 spending is only 2% cashback overall, which isn't that good IMHO.

Applied World Elite card online on Monday. Tuesday received call to confirm details, terms & conditions. Today (Wednesday) received SMS that the application is approved.

I don't have any CIMB credit cards, so can enjoy the first year annual fee waiver. Will probably cancel if I can't his the subsequent annual spend 240K requirement.

No mention of any such requirement. Even if need to attend 2 hours, it is a small inconvenience IMHO.

I applied for, and received, the Travel World Elite card in October. Happy to share that I've received the Annual Fee RM1215 refund this month and also managed to secure 3 nights stay at the Marriott Mao Khai Beach Phuket Resort. About the hotel stay, worth pointing out that it is not entirely free because of THB4800 fees and taxes. Also the resort is not beachfront, despite having Beach in its name. It is a 600m walk inland - I read that there is buggy shuttle available. I would highly recommend this credit card, especially if you qualify for first year annual fees waiver.

I received the refund for the first upfront Annual Fee because I am new to CIMB credit card customer. I am not sure about how the refund will work next year.

Regarding the Phuket stay in May, I had emailed (preview.phuket@vacationclub.com) with the request and dealt with one of their executives for the reservation. Initially, the hotel wanted to charge an extra holiday surcharge due to the dates falling on a peak period festive date. However, this surcharge was waived in the end and I proceeded to pay just the taxes + fees of THB4,843 for the 3 nights stay.

I'm not with CIMB bank and cannot confirm how long the promotion will last, or if there were any changes to the T&C since its initial launch last October. I had to initiate the inquiry on my own with Marriott vacation club to get the free stays. From this forum chat, I noticed banks typically reduce CC benefits over time. I would advise not to wait if you already got the TWE.
