Thinking of getting cimb Petronas visa platinum to replace rhb shell.

Does paying over the counter at PETRONAS qualifies for cb?

Petronas Visa Platinum:

Earn up to 8% Cash Rebate¹
Everyday can be rewarding. Get Cash Rebate1 when you spend on:

PETRONAS transaction
Setel transaction at PETRONAS
EV charging at PETRONAS stations

Check with card centre ya.
It is more complicated than getting a CIMB (conventional) CC.

If up to 8% rebate, then it should be CIMB Petronas Visa Patinum-i. The income requirement is only RM24000/year.
Existing CIMB (Conventional banking) credit line.
To get Islamic credit line.

So far only Maybank Islamic has a proper procedure and application form on conversion.
Existing Maybank (Conventional) card can still be used (no need cancelled in advance) until Maybank Islamic CC is activated and outstanding balance automatically transferred from old CC (Conventional) to new CC (Islamic).

So you check with CIMB Card Centre how to convert or how to apply a new credit facility for Islamic CC.

I hold TWE and e-card with >200k limit but they refused to grant me Islamic facility multiple times. Couldn't even get the Platinum card lol. The only option they told me was to pledge FD but their rates are so bad that it wasn't worth it at all.

Oh my I might have this issue then, planning to apply in Oct when I clear most of my BTs in Sept. My colleague who is earning about the same as me got this card, I think it is due to her salary credited to CIMB while mine is MBB.

Your colleague get credit lines from both CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic?
Otherwise have to cancel conventional CL then apply for Islamic CL.
Sotong bank.

They were really unhelpful even when I went to the branch. Plus the FD pledge requirement for VI is something like 45k iirc. If you factor in the opportunity cost from locking up that amount at their measly FD rates it's not worth getting.

I even asked them to give me the lowest limit Islamic Plat... Still refused. No logic, especially since my TWE annual spending qualifies for AF waiver and always clear monthly balance in full. They really didn't make effort to look at case by case basis, and also looks like no manual escalation.

To be honest, I didn't ask her I just saw her taking out this card. I will assume she only has the CIMB Islamic as I have seen her other cards before from other banks but not CIMB conventional.

I already cancelled all conventional cards when I cancelled TWE in Dec 2024.

This is really illogical for them to reject yours. I was kinda optimistic that I will get it as I saw my colleague has it as our salary is at the same range and definitely more than 120k per year which is more than enough for the card's requirement. Then, I saw williamyl's reply earlier, maybe my colleague got it also due to her salary credited into CIMB.

I will try in Oct once my CCRIS is updated by then and see how it fares. biggrin.gif

Just reduce your conventional card credit limit and apply again for Islamic card.
