hi guys, i wish to convert the existing utility room into a new bathroom as shown in the pic, is it possible? if hacking to floor slab is not possible, i might consider for the piping to run on top of the floor slab and then finish with a raised platform. anyone stay in apartment done this before?

Without WC is possible, maybe raised around 1/2 feet, that provided your existing floor can take the extra cement load.

i think to use t or y to connect to existing soil pipe. my idea of raised floor platform is by installing something like timber decking to sandwich the piping in between the floor slab and the timber deck thus creating space for the piping to run without having to hack through the slab. something like this pic.

Have you talked to building engineering about this? The extra load imposed? The WC is much easier to resolve albeit running the risk of one toilet flushing causing the other to lose its water trap seal due to siphon effect. The shower drainage not so unless it's raised but the water proofing to prevent seepage from the other bathroom is a challenge unless the water exits at the lower wall of the showy stall of the original bathroom. Even then, you need to know if that is possible as the water supply line to the shower could be there.

Your wc and shower area the same area right? If same the wood will not last long. What on the photo, the WC area and shower area maybe separate.

U can install prefabric toilet so less water issue in future. The piping picture u post is also for these design.

Worst to worst u just need to hack part of the wall to install the unit and rewall the room.

Your existing bathroom will be need some renovate for water n drain piping.

i had roughly asked a plumber about this before but not really in detail, he told me that it could be done. i will seek further details and consultation later on but before that i would just like to get some comment here first see if anyone here had similar experience.

Better don't create problem to the house right below you. The risk of any water seepage to the ceiling below is very high. If the owner complain to the building management or local authority, you will have to redo again according to the original building plan.

first it is not easy, not good looking with raised floor and waste pipe running on top

2nd, wait until water sippage occur then u will have headache

3rd, now your neighbour below start complaining u just flooded his house

4th, u are going to repair your bathroom with a lot of dust flying due to hacking works

5th, u need to make good ur neighbour house but he is an important person at company and wont take annual leave just to let u in, management office wont let u do rectification works on sunday

u see the shower box attached above? it is huge. most likely need to dismantle if water sippage occur
