Tamron 70-300mm only about RM 600. smile.gif so with RM 2k budget you can get better lens already.

you could also try the one from Sigma. smile.gif

either way, those RM 600 or so types good enough to use then when you ready to upgrade you can sell it off.

the thing i like about lens is their value doesn't drop like computer parts.

i'm abit confused, are u saying some of the 17-50 f2.8 are sharp and some are not ? I would say if the picture are not sharp, it is normally due to user and not the lens.

They are 3rd party lens maker. They dont have propiertary AF chips. They source from elsewhere and slap it onto the lens. It's luck whether you'll get a sharp tammy or not. If you're still dead set on getting the tammy, test every single tammy until you find a sharp one.

Unlike the states, you cant return it and they'll exchange another one for you OTC. They'll just send your lens back to Tamron and let them fix it.

I bought the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. It's really sharp, shaper than 17-40 f/4. I tried 3 copies at the shop, 2 of them got a bit back focus.

If you want to get the Tamron, make sure test the lens at the shop.

I read some articles on this "Back Focus" thingy...
Does this means I have to try the lens on its Tele End and Wide End to find out whether its Front Focus or Back Focus? hmm.gif

Does Back Focus means 50mm /= 50mm become like <50mm?

Yes, try it on both the wide and tele end. Not really know how to express in term of the focal length. Use the biggest aperture and center focus point to do the test. Focus on something and snap the picture. If the thing you focused came out very sharp, means the focus is ok.

Thx every1 for the reply... notworthy.gif
Thx for the explanation canon18, will be careful if when I buy Tammy... nod.gif

Should I buy any one of these:

Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO Zoom Macro II
Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro
Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 LD Macro

before I can get 70-200mm f2.8 IS... hmm.gif

From experienced users' view, does the IS important?
If it is not, maybe can aim for:

EF 70-200 f2.8
Sigma 70-200 f2.8

No problem man..

Yes, IS is much useful at tele than wide angle. Consider the 70-200 f/4 IS.
