A close relative passed away recently..

So... after a few months I'm ready to move on...

Going thru the stuff leftover, I ended up with a locked iPhone 6+ (or is it 7 not sure)...

I would love to unlokc it for the photos inside etc.. but I know that's not gonna happen.

What option do we have with the phone now?

If that was the case there wouldnt be any need for a forum, everything also walk into the product store...

Forum, usually for asking something normal stuff.

You are actually asking how to unlock / hack through the system.
(& maybe recover erased data)

I'm actually suggesting you to call Apple & ask whether they can legally unlock it for you.

i'm not asking how to hack it.

I'm askign what are my options? Need documents go apple store?

Some procedure?

If apple phone the owner pass away, and it becomes a lump of brick, then fck that will make sure no one in the family will use it.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Hope you'll feel much better soon.

Back to the topic at hand, there is one way that might work.

Erase your device with recovery mode to remove your passcode
-Connect your iOS device to your computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, borrow one from a friend, or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.

-While your device is connected, force restart it:
On an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the recovery-mode screen.

-On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold both the Side and Volume Down buttons at the same time.

-Keep holding them until you see the recovery-mode screen.

-On an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch: Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery-mode screen.

-When you see the option to Restore or Update, choose Restore.

-iTunes will download software for your device. If it takes more than 15 minutes, your device will exit recovery mode and you'll need to repeat steps 2 and 3.

-Wait for the process to finish. Then you can set up and use your device.
