Yes, once he upgraded his account you get free 30 days, but this might take some time. It really depends. I had 2 referrals who upgraded to full. I got the free 30 days from the 1st referral within a few days of him upgrading while I got the free 30 days from the 2nd referral after almost a month of him upgrading. So it's not a guarantee instant.
