for those who are curious - the latest firmware now allows 3rd party maps' directions (Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps) to appear on the HUD. it no longer confines itself to only using Mazda's own maps (through their SD card).

One thing still missing though and that is the speed recognition feature.

Mazda's TSR (traffic sign recognition) for some reason only relies on the SD card map data instead of using the camera.

I have it activated on my CX30 with the SD card, but sometimes it's showing a different speed from what's shown on the real sign

if you have the 10.25" infotainment display then you should have it - this shouldn't be an "ignite-only" feature.

Is it still a good time to buy Mazda 3 now, this model released like 5 or 6 years ago. I am worried if I buy now, and they release a new model

Follow your heart..
if next year launch all new Mazda 3, bermaz will take a long time to bring it in. [eg the cx5 facelift, Kia sportage Pre FL]

For me I yolo only. After few years sell and change new car again

Its possible to change the screen to 10.25 inch (someone here did it)

But so far no one did for the HUD upgrade. Either its hard to get the software or there's something else involved

Still hard to find the spare part though. 🥲

I saw one in Amazon JP but no picture. Not sure if it’s legitimate

Honestly I don't think it's worth it just for the extra 1"+ of screen. The pre update size of 8.8" is still very usable. Also I read somewhere the resolution is actually still the same... so you get more ppi with the older screen

On the other hand, the AA / AC support for HUD is something I will gladly pay for

1.45" is actually plenty lot, i couldn't help but noticed now how small the 8.8" is when i drive my sister's CX-30 sweat.gif but you are right, the 8.8" is still very useable. i think the display got upgraded as well, the colors appears to be deeper (better contrast ratio) and slightly "crispier".

to put things into perspective, the screen size between an iPhone 16 Pro and an iPhone 16 Pro Max is only 0.6".

Yeah but to get the new screen seperately, the part itself costs more than 1k iinm... to me not a very tempting upgrade unless I have spare cash lying around

true biggrin.gif

but i reckon that anyone who intends to keep the car for more than 5 years, it's worth the upgrade though. the additional screen estate is quite valuable when it comes to displaying maps.

Yeah, I dont plan to change car anytime soon. Might use the car for more than 5 years until there’s a really good car that came out 5 years later.

Exactly! I don't like the TPU one either sad.gif I rather keep the original piece there without peeling it sad.gif

better to remove that thin protective plastic layer as it can trap dust in between which increases the chance of scratching the display. it should be quite resistant compared to the plastic cover used in the meter cluster biggrin.gif

we don't touch it anyway so basically there's almost no need to wipe it.
