Im on the same boat but I don’t have a car right now.

The problem with the 2024 model, Mazda could only release 2.5 NA/Turbo and that set a higher price point. And since they want to move up to premium market, the price for Mazda 3 might start from RM170k.

So Im in dilemma right now.

Mazda has discontinued 2.0 engine for their U.S market..

https://www.carsdirect.com/2023/mazda/mazda3

I took it as a hint that 2024 model wouldn’t include 2.0 engine but 2.5 NA/Turbo. I could totally be wrong when the time comes.
*
This is why I hate people like you. STOP spreading rumours. There is no indication that Mazda is going to discontinue the 2.0 L engine completely for the rest of the world market. Only US market will be affected by the change. Historically, US market have been using high capacity engines on their cars. On the same website you posted, the 2.0 is the only base spec (and the cheapest) on offer for the US market. All other trims on offer are of the 2.5 L engine options. Perhaps Mazda did their research and found that very few people bought the base spec and decided to annex the 2.0 L spec for the upcoming 2023 model year.

There is no news on local car sites regarding any changes to the current offering in Malaysia. It is suicidal to go for 2.5 L option on the C-segment car for market like here in Malaysia.

Congrats on your new car! That Soul red crystal is so sexy.

I've been waiting patiently since my booking end of april last year. Soul Red hi+ HB. Last i asked I was queue 33 at the end of January. few days ago my SA asked me if wanna switch over to the cx30 hi plus premium, as that will come in the second batch after bermaz delivers the first batch of hi plus. when i checked the specs, CX30 hi plus premium is basically the full ignite i-activesense package... a little conflicted now... wait a bit longer (but dunno exactly when), or switch over sad.gif

There is no hi plus premium. Are you sure? For CX-30, the list of available models are 2.0G CORE, 2.0G HIGH, 2.0G IGNITE EDITION (2WD), 2.0G IGNITE EDITION (4WD).

After your few days driving, can share about your thought regarding the power of the m3 2.0? I was test drive a 1.5 sedan last year because there is no 2.0 unit at that showroom, can feel it is under power.
*
For me, the power is lacking in Normal mode when I tried to lane merge. The acceleration is just not there. It is different though in Sport mode. Faster acceleration when I need them.

Also, a tip for all who are parking your car:
Once your car is in a parking spot, do the following sequence in order to engage the car in proper parking mode.
  1. Press the brake pedal.
  2. Put the car in Neutral gear.
  3. Pull the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) switch.
  4. Release the brake pedal, so that the parking brake will clamp the wheels down and let the car's weight to settle down on the parking brake.
  5. Press the brake pedal again and shift your selector lever to (P).
Because most of us tend to immediately shift the lever to P after we parked our car, THEN only engage the EPB. Don't do that. The (P) in the shift lever will engage a parking pawl inside the gearbox. Having the weight of the car to rest on this tiny piece of parking pawl is just asking for trouble in the future if this thing broke. You end up with replacing this piece of lock inside the gearbox if it broke, which is a lot of hassle.

Also, you may sometimes notice that you face the difficulty in moving the shift lever from P to R gear (sometimes you can hear a loud KRONK sound) when you tried to move your car out from the parking spot (especially true when parking on a slope). And this is the reason why. Your parking pawl inside the gearbox is holding down the weight of the car, instead of the proper brakes on your wheels. The parking pawl was meant to lock the gear inside the transmission, not meant to hold the weight of the car.

Why don’t we just skip the step 2? The EPF is disabled when the gear isn’t in Neutral gear?
*
Because you are parking your car. You don't want the car to be in D or R gear after the releasing the brake pedal.

The EPB was not disable in any other gear (D/R), more of a safety issue.

Reverse parking:
Reverse park (in R gear and with brake pedal control) -> While brake pedal still pressed, shift to N (NOT directly up to P gear) -> Pull up the EPB to engage the parking brakes on the wheels -> Release the brake pedal (you will notice the car weight's sits firmly on the brakes, like some motion going down) -> Push the brake pedal again to move your lever from N to P position.

Direct parking:
Park as you would normally do (in D gear and with brake pedal control) -> While the brake pedal still pressed, shift up to the N position -> Pull up the EPB to engage the parking brakes on the wheels -> -> Release the brake pedal (you will notice the car weight's sits firmly on the brakes, like some motion going down) -> Push the brake pedal again to move your lever from N to P position.

This applies to all cars with automatic transmission.

You need some time to adjust to it because it is a change of habit, but once you are familiar with the process, it'll come naturally.

As a note, the P in the gear lever is to park your transmission (i.e. to lock the transmission in place), not your car. To prevent the car from moving, you use the parking brakes. The parking brakes on the wheels were designed to support the entire weight of the car.

To check if your parking brakes works properly, on an inclined slope, put the car in N position (while the brake pedal was pressed), engage parking brakes. Then release your brake pedal. If the car still move while the parking brakes were on and gear is in N position, get your parking brakes checked. If the car doesn't move, it means that the parking brake is doing its job.

It is much easier to service the car's parking brake than to service the parking pawl inside the gearbox.

Just changed 2 set of tyres. Got unlucky that my front right passenger tyre experienced bulging on the sidewall. It is a pain in the arse to find the original tyres that came with the car as a lot of tyre shops doesn’t carry the 215/45 R18 tyre size.

Luckily managed to procure and installed the original tyre brand and size that was installed originally with the car (Bridgestone Turanza T005A, 215/45 R18). Cost me RM520/tyre.

gsan, saw your signature you got the VXDiag diagnostic tool. How much did you bought it for and from where did you get it? Is the diagnostic comprehensive enough to view car’s parameters?

where did you manage to find the shop...?

did you consider using Pilot Sport 5...?

although the size is slightly different...  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

Called Bridgestone Malaysia at first to enquire about stock availability. They said don't have any stock available and ask to call their main distributor for any leftover stock. FYI, they do import this size 215/45 R18 89W, just that it is sporadic stock intake.

Next, I called the main distributor and they are useless as they don't really want to entertain personal request.

Next, called various tyre shops that carry Bridgestone tyres (getting the list from Bridgestone Malaysia's website) and ask around for any leftover stocks. Found one shop at Kota Damansara, PJU, who managed to source the tyres for me.

Did consider Michelin tyres. Same thing, first thing first, called Michelin Malaysia if they do stock the same size of tyres. They said yes to stock availability for both Michelin Primacy 4 and Pilot Sport 5 and asked to call various tyre shops who stock Michelin tyres. Michelin is my backup plan to replace all 4 tyres in the event I cannot find the same Bridgestone tyres.

Not a fan of having 2 different tyre brands on the car.

Michelin Primacy 4 recommended selling price is from RM648.00 (215/45 R18 93W, extra load) while Pilot Sport 5 (215/45 ZR18 93Y) is from RM939.00 (prices available from Michelin Malaysia's website).

My 2 years old Mazda 3 having some suspected suspension issue lately. When i press the brake to a complete stop during low speed, a sort of knocking or squeaky will occur. Same when going through speed bump. Why suspected suspension is because i already claimed one new front absorber which service center said the abnormal noise was due to faulty part. However, after 1 month the same noise is reoccurring and I'm not sure is coming from the same absorber, the same location or different location. So I'm wondering whether any of you guys face the similar issue.
*
It is squeaky noise when braking? I had the issue where the rear left brake disc was eating into the disc brake (clear abrasion seen on the disc itself). Changed the brake pads under warranty and the sound went away. First time with the dealership mechanic unable to produce the sound. Went back home and the second time I drove, the sound came back and immediately went back to the dealership. Mechanic saw the abrasion and was able to hear the noise as well. It was a high pitch, high frequency noise. Ask for a younger mechanic to confirm the noise as the noise was usually high frequency sound and older mechanic might not be able to hear them due to age related deterioration of hearing.

i see, so we cant use PS5 at all...?

better to use back original size - 215/45/18...?

hmm.gif  hmm.gif

We can use Michelin PS5. The website did say that they have 215/45 R18 tyre size, for both Michelin Primacy 4 and PS5. Just need to call various tyre shops to ask for stocks. They will have methods to source the tyres with the size you need.

In fact, I did called Michelin Malaysia as noted in my post and they do stock the requested size for Malaysian market.

Also, a mere 10 mm increase of width will also affect the side wall height as well. Going from 96.7 mm to 101.3 mm will also decrease the gap between the tyres and the inner arch. Good luck if your absorber started to worn out and your tyres starting to graze the inner wheel arch.

And the 225 tyre will stick out of the car by a bit. 215 tyre profile just sit flush with the body of the car. I've seen real example of other Mazda 3 on the road who had changed to 225/45 R18 profile tyres. And it stick out like a sore thumb.

One last thing, different circumference will affect the speed reading as pointed out.
