But during CNY, Skateline and some of the guys who learn skating from there will organise a skate session down town KL as the traffic is not heavy at all. some guys also play inline hockey tongue.gif
ehheeh gonna start promoting inline hockey soon lol!!! nola joking... I do play and on ice as well so yeah its good to know more ppl are getting into skating. Keep it up guys!!

actually it all depends on the surface you skate on. so if you have a few sets of wheels, just change em when u on different surfaces unless lazy la

I'm sorry JY, but I dont agree with you on WHO STARTED inline skating in Malaysia.... well credit goes to Skateline because without the company presence and that kinda sparked back the sport back into life and well, quite grateful it did if not, well u can imagine it will still be kinda underground.

Bichai87,

I only can answer No. 1 question and the rest I'm no expert in this discipline of inline skating (slalom or freestyle)

1. It was way back in 1993 or 94 when the movie The Mighty Ducks (based on the NHL team Anaheim Ducks) landed to M'sia and it was an instance HIT among the adolescences.. 10- 18 years of age.. this spurred the main thing which is inline hockey and the rest followed like aggressive skating or street. Back then, there was no free style or slalom. Inline skating then was recognised by MPPJ and if not mistaken was supported as well. Aggressive skating didnt do as well but there was a fun box and some other stuff back then at PJ Arena Old Town, which now has a half pipe and some other stuff.. and the public perceived it as a "gang" thing or some sort of bad influence to kids. Yeah I was one of them and got chased around by guards in car parks LOL!!

then came Astro and ESPN and TADA!!! X-games was here and it was like wwaaaahhhhh everyone wanted to get a piece of this sport (well not everyone la)

Also back then skateboarding was the in thing and 4 wheelers and 8wheelers are quite close and no rivalry, back then underground mah!! and all friends so no friction there smile.gif

Cut long story short, i think few years later there was no support whatsoeva and the sport just died and due to some in fighting "politics" in the sport.

back to the present, the KJrollers are still around doing their aggressive skating, inline hockey is also here and slalom not sure but from what I read in here its growing and its good to see it progress rclxms.gif

So bichai87, sorry if its too long but thats the background story of inline skating in a nutshell.

Oh ya forgot to add, there were other movies... I remember one called Airborne, quite a few stars then, even jack black was in there smile.gif and the 90's the era of Chris Edwards, godfather of aggressive skating.

search "inline skate rocker"
I like this and one more for the example given:

wiki inline skate rocker

Rocker definition

basically, what you want is to imitate the curve on an ice skate as explained in the site above.
