Is Balau commonly used as batten for floors (for solid wood flooring)? Or normally no need hardwood for battens?

Normally you buy ready make wood?
I get a few ppl quoted me quite high..
Then I saw some is like without vanishing etc aka ketam.
I guess ketam same as sanding?

If buy this type what should I do? Use the linseed oil then shellac?
Same some meet my dimension requirement and thickness.

ketam means planning. Siap ketam usually means S4S, wood ready to cut and join.

Raw wood is hard to work with for most consumers unless you have the tools and tolerate noise/dust.

if u get rubber wood panel. usually no need anything except sanding and then finishing.

i make table tops for ID so i buy raw wood and i process it until it becomes a table top, usually 5-15k range dining tables

Do you dry your own wood?

I see market full of "young" tree, not completely dry. Especially those "hard wood" like chengal and balau. will warp or crack shortly after delivery.

Proper kiln dry wood locally tends to be exported.
