But i do know Belian, my customer told me before for this species, it actually same as hard as Balau, but lighter. It is a very good feedback wood.

Actually Belian is harder & heavier than Balau. Balau about 850kg/m3 vs Belian about 1000kg/m3.
Due to the excellent resistance to bacterial, fungal, insect and marine borer attack; Belian hard to get. Cannot exported outside Msia or outside Sarawak. Still can import from Sabah for local use.
Belian got service life of up to 100 years in direct soil contact like kampung house and more than 20 years for marine work like bridge or floating house.
It's the best wood u can find in Msia.

morning boss,

i wanna use it for my backyard, below my clear roof as safety.
area is 1200mm length x 6600mm width. wanna make like patio. will be exposed to sunglight, but not to rain, perhaps a bit of moisture.

u have square wood about 1300mm length, 3-4" square? plan to have gap about 3-4" per wood.

thanks!

plan to take out all my roof in the last 5ft of my backyard, and put a glass / Poly roof so sunlight can come in (to dry clothes). for safety, so gonna add wooden beams across it.

yes, belian wood is damn durable, but it is the most expensive one, it has been pretty difficult to get it already, it was being used heavily 40 years ago, my grandfather house is built by using belian wood, the house is already more than 60 years old and the wood still stay strong! this wood is so heavy that it will sink in the water!

Hi all, due to really busy last few week, I am seldom reply in this topic, sorry ya ?

Here is my customer hill side bungalow near Pantai, Negeri Sembilan. All wood built this house is supplied from my factory, using Balau and some Grade B Balau. Spend around half year to finish, and still extending. Last month, he invite me to have a tea time in there. It is about 500M above sea level, quite windy and cool air. Peace and quiet.

Hi, for your table top size (31.5” wide, in 5feet of length) should be slab (with both side of skin) . We usually sold 1 pieces from log, which mean the minimum length is 16 feet and up, for your width is very common (31.5”)and the thickness is minimum 3.5”.

You will need to purchase whole slab (16feet or 18feet) if we dont spare any 5feet in store (cos usually ppl take whole slab instead of cutting it) .

For your reference , 3.5”x31.5”x18’ will cost about RM7,000 (grade b, with some small hole in random area). biggrin.gif

Hello !

1 : we closed on 14/6 to 18/6, open on 19/6.

2: we are half day (to 12pm) on weekend and closed on sunday and important public holiday.

3: i would suggest Bahau (8km away) or Kuala Pilah (middle of seremban road), for Bahau, you get nice white coffee and roti bakar in Nanyang Kopitiam, if you’re chinese, the hawker center near market has about 80 store to select biggrin.gif

For kuala pilah, i would suggest hailam restaurants in old road to seremban (near abandoned BP patrol station), teh c and nasi lemak very nice, lot of local chinese and malays went there during morning, closed on 12pm as i know. Or, if you’re late, you can visit Restaurant Sinaran (hainam kopitiam also) inside kuala pilah town near bus station. If you’re looking for something special food and if you’re Chinese, visit hawker center near pasar, find 1 shop selling water fish helbal noodles (labi labi), also stew beef noodles.

hi! i would like to build an outdoor fence and decking using balau resak or chengal. whats the price difference like?

for fence, it probably be 1x3 (or 4?) x4 feet.
is 3 or 4 inch wide better?

for decking, itll probably be 1x3 x 8-10 feet.

thanks for your advise and opinion. (and quote)
