Fuck. Will be pretty unfair for them as they're not companies, so can't minus out their operating expenses.

What they get net from Uber will be their income. No column for private citizens to deduct their expenses for petrol and maintenance.

I also use my car, maintenance and petrol to go to work. And i also taxed on my net salary so?

Trust me, that won't work. They want black and white copy from petrol station. Uber driver will definitely make loses

That's too bad then. You can do it if you're a sdn bhd, though and you can show you're using it for commercial activities.

Can la. Your petrol and car maintenance is tax deductible...

I guess if they fill in Form B? But do you need to register for a sole proprietorship to do that?

That's a small sum compared to what the drivers pay, and it's considered private travel. Everyone needs to get to work and means is up to you. If your company asks you to go from office to customer's place and back, that's using your transportation to derive income and you can claim back from your company, and your company can deduct it as a cost of doing business.

Grab drivers are driving to derive their income. It's a cost of them doing business. Therefore, it should be deductible.

Same reason why you can deduct rental for your shop lot but not your private residence.

The issue of technicality remains.

1)
Uber and Grab is legalised on 27th July 2017
sos bintang
Meaning Uber and Grab is not legal prior to that.

do one have to pay tax if the income is derived from illegal activity?

2)
The tax is more punishing on part time drivers.
Those who have already a job/salary and drives for part time.
for example, if that driver is /k standard salary in 24% tax bracket
than his Uber income will be
Gross fare - 25% uber fees - 24% income tax - petrol - maintenance - time - telephone call - data charges
= FARK LHDN lor, con9lan7firm rugi job

Because Uber is a business, that also has to file income tax, the payments to the drivers are their expense and IRB will use that info to go chase drivers.

IRB already has the details of payments made to the drivers so now waiting for drivers to respond only. See which ones dare to under declare or don't declare lol

The TS email is asking for driver to report for which Tax Year Assessment one?
Fark la I drove for a week long time ago in 2015, only earn like rm100 and i dont rmb declaring it during e filing

If you did not receive the email, just forget about it.
No need to worry about RM100

My guess, LHDN is now throwing shitz on the wall and see which piece sticks.
