I want to try meditation but everytime I google it I'm hit by all these complicated Hindu terms which kinda scared me off.

QUOTE(chonghe @ Mar 8 2018, 10:04 PM) It is definitely secular, I don't like the idea of linking meditation to any religion, too many institutions are doing this way Thanks! I've decided to download an app called Headspace. It has basic daily meditation guides for me to try for the next 10 days. I'm pretty excited. I just need to find some time and some place quiet to practice it. You can try to search some websites or read some books by westerners, they are more open and do not link to any religion but interpret meditation in an open approach - I like it this way Hope this helps. |

I've finished all 10 basic free guided meditation sessions on Headspace and was kinda bumped that I have to pay for other meditation guides. After googling for other free apps, I've discovered Insight Timer and so far I'm loving it. Last night I tried a 30-minute guided meditation for deep sleep and ended up sleeping 10 minutes in lol.
Can't say that I've seen any significant changes in my life since meditating but it has only been a couple of weeks on and off since I'm doing it so hopefully I can make it a routine soon so that I can get all the benefits of meditation. Are you meditating guided or unguided chonghe? I feel like I still have lots to learn before I go about it on my own. |

QUOTE(chonghe @ Apr 8 2018, 05:48 PM) After the meditation session did you feel better overall? For my case if I was stressed before meditation sometimes I will feel better after the session, in the sense that I feel more relieve and less stressed. When do you usually meditate? Post-meditation, I do feel good but that's probably because the time that I choose to meditate is the time I'm feeling happy/unstressed in the first place. Now I am unguided all the time because the approach I used is simple. I just pay attention to my breath and try to focus, but the mind always wanders, always. When it happens then I just bring the attention back to the breath. Don't feel that there is a lot to learn, there are many approaches, choose the simple one to follow (again, simple may not mean easy). Hope this helps |

I'm still trying to figure out how to sit properly because every 2-3 minutes my back would hurt so much.

Managed to make meditating a routine before going to bed now. However I think I should try to level up and meditate for longer period. 10 minutes a day seems very short.
