Anyone here have any experience with the Panasonic Lumix FX30?

A camera shop quoted me RM 1430 with 2 GB memory card included, plus the usual freebies casing, screen protector, tripod. The other package was the Canon Ixus 850 IS plus 2 GB memory card, casing, screen protector and tripod also for about RM 1440. The salesperson recommended the Panasonic Lumix over the Canon, but I haven't seen many reviews on this model. Would like your opinions on which package is better, or is there no difference?

Thanks!

Bought the camera, seems the pictures has bad focus issues. No matter which level of OIS or scene selected. Anyone having similar problems with Lumix FX30? Thanks.

Ok, will post a photo later tonite. don't have them with me. Its like when you take a photo of someone - the eyes and nose are all blurry instead of having sharp images. Even with OIS on and in day time.

Please share which shop can get at that price.

I am thinking of getting the Lumix FX30 for my wife. Originally, I wanted to get her the Lumix TZ3, but she prefered to have something smaller and lighter.

Anyway, prior to this, I went through a couple of reviews and and photos posted n forums, comparing the Ixus 850 and the Lumix FX30. The FX30 have better sharpness, edge to edge, especially at the wide end. Having said that, the Ixus 850 is not a bad choice either.

I do get good shots with it, but I would say, 5 out of 10 shots will have soft focus to them. I do wait till the green light appears on screen when focusing and before clicking. Maybe I expected more with the OIS thinggy - will upload photos for a clearer picture of the problems I have. Thanks.

what shutter speed is that?

with my fx01 i get 100% sharp pic outdoor, when the SS is over 1/10s, OIS is really effective, mode 2.

from 1/4s to 1/10s, still can get more than 90% sharp pic.

anything slower than 1/4s, 50/50, i usually use burst mode in slow SS, take a series of pics, this way can easier to get sharp pics.
