So basically Lazada and 11street have sellers selling iPhone that is imported set I think from the US. The price for these imported sets are cheaper than usual( you can search iPhone 7plus 32GB basically less than RM3k most likely is imported set).
https://www.lazada.com.my/apple-iphone-7-pl...y-86119551.html
So I have these questions bangwall.gif :

1) How come these imported set phones have Malaysia Apple Warranty? Is it the users now can claim warranty anywhere in the world? If is true why not everyone just imports from the US and sell cheaper price?

2) Come across comments on Facebook where Apple fans share their thoughts, some of them said that imported sets often have cellular problems(low signal). Anyone here could answer this questions? Checking the review of the products often do not have people saying about the cellular status. Also will Sim Card like Maxis Digi U Mobile going to have issues ? Hope someone can answer my questions!

the issue is..seller in lazada/11street can be anyone, can be Ali, Ahkao or Muthu unless they stated there this is official store of machines/mac city, etc.

Do prepare yourself for the risk of these lower price AP set

But who cares if Ali, Ahkao or Muthu sells something that Apple Malaysia gives warranty?

Definitely know the risk, just asking if it worth taking it or not since the price is lower by RM500, tongue.gif since got warranty if spoil or issues just bring to Apple Malaysia.

SEKATAN PENTING UNTUK iPHONE, iPAD DAN PERKHIDMATAN APPLE TV

Apple boleh mengehadkan perkhidmatan waranti untuk iPhone, iPad dan Apple TV kepada negara tempat Apple atau Pengedar Berdaftarnya menjual peranti itu.

iPhone warranty is local to the country of original purchase.
So if you buy in Singapore, resell to Malaysian customer and that fella re-sell again to Australia... you still have to return the phone to Singapore for warranty claims.
You can pay for parts & labour if you insist on repairing in other locations, but that's not warranty claim smile.gif

I know this cos my first iPhone (3G) was from New Zealand ... that was a very interesting phone call, when I called AppleCare and told them I'm here in Malaysia smile.gif

1. I saw a post the other day that basically confirms authorised Apple retailers like Machines and Mac City are able to accept warranty claims for a non-local iPhone.

2. Not sure about cellular status, but iPhones from certain countries have restricted features due to the said country's laws and regulations. For example, you can't silence the camera shutter sound on a Japanese iPhone.

1. 11street/ Lazada if shipped from overseas, normally will take longer shipping to your doorstep. Why you ask? That is because custom tends to hold it until you/seller clear the tax beforehand as the goods you purchase need import tax. Which normally depends anyway whether you're lucky or not. As for warranty, as far as I know Apple got international warranty. But I can't confirm whether our authorised dealer accept it or not.

2. Cellular problem is due to the frequency band that the model has. Example as below I have taken for IP6 Plus Model.
You need to check which model they're sending and compare which telco you're using before purchase.

How does the seller knows the frequency band of the iPhone they are selling? Should I just get the origin of the iPhone and then google it? notworthy.gif

I also realise there is 2 model for iPhone 7 plus :
A1661(United States, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong and China) and
A1784(European and Asian countries like the UK, France, etc)

A1661 with the support of TD-SCDMA and CDMA EV-DO Rev. A bands while the A1784 do not, basically the A1661 is better? Do Malaysian need the support of these networks? And how do I find out which version, is it written on the box?

Aiyaaa... 82% seller rating... not so good.

Furthermore title says Apple malaysia warranty, description says 1 year local warranty. Both contradict already. Fishy.

Anyways, to save RM500, I personally won't risk it. Electronically, also different between import and local set.

Apples warranty is basically international with exception of Sim enabled products.
They may decline to warrant it if it’s from a different region if it’s a compatibility issue. Basically it is to their discretion.

I had phones from Australia and Uk which was accepted for warranty locally.

The region locked warranty is only particularly important for countries with more than standard year warranty. It doesn’t really matter to us. Buying a phone that can’t accept local Telco bands is up to each individuals due diligence. Just a simple search will suffice.
