Received RM720 Redmi 5 Plus from wowphone/DD, accidentally OTA'ed the fake global ROM. Bootloop. Damaged my fingernails opening the damned phone to do testpoint restore using MiFlash haih...in the end, got it working again with China stable ROM 9.2.3.0, installed Google crapz and now up and running again

Anyone know of a script to debloat China ROMs? I mean, omaigawd, there's a lot of sampah in there and I need to wait another 14 days for bootloader unlock

Read in xiaomi forums that flashing global ROM on China phone using testpoint will brick it, so I won't even bother trying

Fastboot files are .tgz files which extracts into a .tar file which will then need to be unzipped for its full contents for MiFlash to work its magic.

My prefered method of getting custom ROMs onto Xiaomi phones is to install TWRP after the bootloader is unlocked, then downloading a flashable zip file (either an XDA cooked ROM or xiaomi.eu ROM) to be flashed using TWRP.

So far, I'm not very impressed with the battery drain on 9.2.3.0 China ROM

Last time quite fast, not sure if it's a new policy of delaying bootloader unlock request to "slow" down sales of China phones outside China. Even a non-developer also could get approval for bootloader unlock in a few days last time Actually, it's now 360 hours for unlock approval

And because this is a China phone, you need to connect to a VPN server based in China to bind the phone to your account for unlocking requests. Same goes for allowing app installs over USB. Quite the pain in the bum-bum, this one

There should be no dent marks at all if you know how to open it, mine is OK even after I DIY the bootloop fix. And please don't update hahaha unless you want the phone to become a doorstopper or waste time re-flashing the phone

It was successful because his bootloader was unlocked, which is highly unlikely in your import set. When bootloader is unlocked, you can do anything to the phone (well...maybe except flashing iOS on it laaa)

If you do this on your bootloader-locked phone, it will most likely result in a brick

Try first with PlexVPN connecting to China Shanghai server, see if you kena the same error or not.

If error, you may need to flash to a newer ***China*** ROM which won't brick your phone, then request bootloader unlock from there.

Whoever bought AP set but now in bootloop can sell to me ***really*** cheap if you can't be bothered to return to seller hahaha...I'm in PJ

Quite jahat this wowdirectd...anyway, already sent you the instructions, if they work, please post here to share with others so they can also DIY the fix themselves without having to wait until after CNY to get their phones back.
