Damaged my fingernails opening the damned phone to do testpoint restore using MiFlash haih...in the end, got it working again with China stable ROM 9.2.3.0, installed Google crapz and now up and running again

QUOTE(G K Lai @ Feb 7 2018, 08:57 AM) Wow! You are really phone doctor! Been playing for many years with phones already, change USB charging port, screen, etc. It's actually quite easy to open Redmi 5 Plus, all you need are fingernails and a guitar pick, no need to unscrew anything. Then just short out 2 pins on the motherboard; utiup is your friend to pick up new knowledge By the way, since you can testpoint to China ROM, can you testpoint again to official Global ROM? Read in xiaomi forums that flashing global ROM on China phone using testpoint will brick it, so I won't even bother trying |

QUOTE(andrewhtf @ Feb 7 2018, 10:07 AM) 14 days very cepat one. Relax, have a coffee. I hope I still have the phone after 14 days Downloaded the fastboot rom, i had to extract twice using winzip i dunno why but but eventually kautim the flashing using miflash. Fastboot files are .tgz files which extracts into a .tar file which will then need to be unzipped for its full contents for MiFlash to work its magic. My prefered method of getting custom ROMs onto Xiaomi phones is to install TWRP after the bootloader is unlocked, then downloading a flashable zip file (either an XDA cooked ROM or xiaomi.eu ROM) to be flashed using TWRP. So far, I'm not very impressed with the battery drain on 9.2.3.0 China ROM |

QUOTE(sitescope @ Feb 7 2018, 03:34 PM) walauweiii nowadays took 14 days ? Last time quite fast, not sure if it's a new policy of delaying bootloader unlock request to "slow" down sales of China phones outside China. Even a non-developer also could get approval for bootloader unlock in a few days last time during my r4p, i got it in 2 days reason coz i'm an android developer And because this is a China phone, you need to connect to a VPN server based in China to bind the phone to your account for unlocking requests. Same goes for allowing app installs over USB. Quite the pain in the bum-bum, this one QUOTE(gastacopz @ Feb 7 2018, 04:49 PM) phone looks ok, no dent mark due to test point..no update to latest version, even tho got prompt to update.. There should be no dent marks at all if you know how to open it, mine is OK even after I DIY the bootloop fix. And please don't update hahaha unless you want the phone to become a doorstopper or waste time re-flashing the phone This post has been edited by wr6969: Feb 7 2018, 04:53 PM |

If you want to DIY-fix a bootlooping phone, can watch this video (not mine). As you can see, it's very simple. Sorry, I tried embedding the video but it resulted in an error, so just click the link to watch it.

QUOTE(gastacopz @ Feb 7 2018, 05:15 PM) but this guy said managed to flashed global rom directly from unofficial It was successful because his bootloader was unlocked, which is highly unlikely in your import set. When bootloader is unlocked, you can do anything to the phone (well...maybe except flashing iOS on it laaa)or my case is different?? http://en.miui.com/thread-1701317-1-1.html If you do this on your bootloader-locked phone, it will most likely result in a brick |

QUOTE(gastacopz @ Feb 7 2018, 05:25 PM) yup.. Try first with PlexVPN connecting to China Shanghai server, see if you kena the same error or not.i read his post.. and he managed to request to unlock using the unofficial rom..where most people failed with 86006 error..then unlock BL..then update.. will it brick also? If error, you may need to flash to a newer ***China*** ROM which won't brick your phone, then request bootloader unlock from there. |
