After 1.5 years, i am still here, thought number of inquiries has gone down tremendously recently, particularly due to competition which offer one-time payment and lifetime access for less than RM50, RM40, RM30, RM20, RM10, RM5, RM3? Seriously? Wow.... If you can see Lazada, Shopee, or any other ecommerce platform, these Google Team Drive for your existing Google ID is selling like HOT CAKES, but how reliable and how could they sell it for so cheap? How are they different compared to what im providing? Let me tell you the truth, its the same damn thing! I mean, the product itself is the same, you get a Google Team Drive assigned to your existing gmail ID, and you get an unlimited Team Drive. (well, not really unlimited, as it has 400k file limit per team drive but these 400k files are with unlimited storage) <- not being told before? yeah, im telling it you now
So what sets me apart from them? I am charging RM49.00/year and i am STILL DOING IT. Of course, there is a difference when it comes to the source of Team Drive. How did these Team Drive with unlimited storage starts surfacing and mushrooming everywhere and so cheap? Enough of question. Let me spills some beans:
1. Source of Team Drive: It could come from G Suite For Education (most of them are), or G Suite for Business ($10/month/user) or G Suite for Enterprise ($25/month/user).
2. What are the difference among them?: G Suite For Education are usually held by University or Accredited Higher Of Learning Institution or Any Accredited school that applied for these account. Basically, in order to get these account, school will have to submit relevant documentation for approval by Google. Some school will then provide free google account to its students that has the ID mystudentid@someuniversity.edu as long as you are still their students. G Suite for Business or Enterprise basically is the same, it's just the price difference and more features for Enterprise-grade services on the Enterprise option. To unlock unlimited storage features on G Suite for Business or Enterprise, Google requires minimum of 5 subscribed users, which means $50/month/user or $125/month/user respectively. Basically, there is cost involved when it comes to Business / Enterprise solution.
3. So what is the risk involved?: If its under G Suite For Education, every G Suite For Education account comes with a limited 10,000 users quota (This is subject to further approval if school requested an increase in quota). Usually the school administrator will do housekeeping on yearly basis or based on number of intakes, they will remove old batch of graduated students (hence removal of their students account) to make way for new accounts to new batch of students. Adminsitrator will not only remove their google account, but will also remove every Team Drive that is associated with the account. So what happened if you have your data under these Team Drive? If you are lucky, you can have your Team Drive for 2-4 years (MAX), if you are unlucky, you get 1 today, and it's gone tomorrow.
4. How do i identify if my team drive is from Education?: Basically it's hard. But you can easily identify some of them via the domain of the Team Drive. Those that says 'Files owned by someschoolname.edu' that ends with .edu or with any country extension like .edu.my are usually associated with G Suite For Education. Some are much trickier, they will says schoolname or anything related to school in its domain, then most likely it's from Education account.
