deciding between a fdr ax40 (or similiar 4k cameras) and a6300, slightly leaning towards the a6300 because of the interchangable lens, though i heard that continous recording will overheat. my question is that does the fdr ax40 ( or similiar 4k handycams) come with microphone jack, can do good auto focus, have lens mount, can do bokeh dof, and able to shoot in 120fps 1080p?

since ax40 is fix lens, a6300 is better choise.
using different lens will get different quality of footage.
more variable.

audio? its better to use external audio recording.

heating? i think so. any mirrorless/dslr will get heat up.
but recording 4k / 1080p 120fps non stop for more 20/40 minute?

maybe 5-7 min per footage?

such awesome rig. could try buy both and make review smile.gif

a6300/a6500 overheats if you record continuos 4k for long period of times, such as 1+ hour non stop

if shoot short 4k clips, then overheating is not a problem

avoid the kit lens though, go for a6300 + 18-105mm OSS setup for videomaking

If non paid job, use kit lens is ok. Make sure update a6300 to latest firmware

18-105 is popular lens for video. Useful focal length, built in stabilizer, can produce bokeh at long end. Give u example

why not take a6500? it go h.245 codec. if you dont go raw footage with black magic, a7s, gh5 or any videocam that can shoot raw footage.

for footage more than 20 min is better to use two camera at least. maybe can take video from different angle.

a6500 5k ringgit, very little device supports h265 (hevc), no need raw, not that pro yet, 2 camera too expensive

If your purpose just for fun and personal use then just go for action cam since its more durable and its main function is for recording video, a mirror less camera give you more control over the recording since you can use different lenses and control the iso, aperture and shutter speed which can be used to do lots of thing such as long exposure, silhouette. You have to decide for wat you want to use it first.
